48 hours is limit as per Polish laws apparently. So that's like 8 hours for 6 days...
That's normal for the majority of the working class and they will be paid for it. Sitting at home and working makes it even better.
People really mad about working ~1 hour extra per day.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

As long as the people are getting paid overtime, I don't see a problem. From March until halfway July I worked 60-70 hours a week. Yes it sucked, but I got paid for it and it was temporary. Mandatory overtime isn't special, that's why I never get these crunch time madness news close to game launches.

In middle and eastern europe people work overtime all the time. I would be nowhere in life, if I did not put in countless weekends and 14 hour days. Go cry me a river, won't you? Tough world. Now gimme my game on the 19th!
Seriously though. What they are doing is legal. If people want to quit over this, then they should. But no need for crying. Crying is a cunt thing to do.

You are over 6000 and still don't get it, my brother. No offense.
It is NOT normal to work overtime (especially) as an employee, it is NOT normal to work 14, 10, 12, heck... even 8 hours a day. Our bodies and minds are not build for such schedule. All the bullshit overtime philosophy comes from bad management, greed, shit selfish company owners and, of course, the root of all evil: Trump.
Yea, "we" (in some parts of the world) are used to this shit and had no option but to add it in our subconscious as a normality.
Yes, "we" (mostly in our younger, poorer and passionate days) agreed to such practices because there was no other culture or social environment that would forbid or punish such practices.
But yea, bottom line, it's far from normal to work daily 12/16 hours, 6 days of week. |

I have done the 12 hours a day, 6 days a week in crunch periods. Because life is a competition, and those who want to get a decent live (in middle and eastern europe) whilst doing decent, strictly legal jobs, need ti work their arses off. That is the reality of the situation.
And it happens in all sectors.

Working overtime is shit. Im 35 and had 2 years of 2 jobs same time ( 1 full, 1 parttime ) but almost worked full 24/7 ( 14-16 hours some days, with most weekends as well - at least 1 day was used anyway ) its goddamn shit and you know what? Most of the other fucks in similar positions were barely working at all, all because of shit management. Worst part? It mentally wrecks you, t’was shit to recover from and go back to enjoying things again. You might say, but its your fault, you had to get 2 jobs why not 1? It wasnt my fault however that both jobs thought that overtime is common and np and almost always part of the job. Like no?
Sure i had money ( not rich money but better than average ) but i aint doing that shit again. 1 job is enough and overtime can go fuck itself sideways. We only get 1 life, its wasted enough as it is on useless annoying shit ( work ).
So fuck that, fuck the mentality that this is normal and fuck the bosses who barely give a shit while they drench themselves in fat bonuses. Kay?

Seems like this was all your choice, and now you are making a different choice. Good for you.
FYI I also am a boss, and of all employees, I work hardest and most. And as someone who has climbed the ladder, trust me on this: being a boss is much, much harder than being an employee. You have to manage everyone's time, motivation, and personality. You have to get results out of people, who are often unpredictable. As a boss you have clients - which means you basically have several people to report to, not just one.
The easiest time I had in my life was, when I had one single good boss, and I could focus on one task for a long time. As a boss you have to multitask.
So if you think bosses swim in money, pussy and free time, you have it all wrong. Some shit faces might be like that. Most bosses are stressed out as fuck and work a fuckton.

Crunch can only be fine when: paid for properly, optional and not for extended times.
And Radicalus (name checks out :>) you are a boss, not a slave owner. 
As to how CDPR manages their crunch, don't know. It might all be fine. But I'm not surprised these things get as much traction in the media when you see how abusive they are in the United States with these types of things. Still they got to account for local laws when reporting on it.
for example: I wouldn't worry if I read Larian has crunch time. Because I know the labor laws in la Belgique.

In the US Navy, I worked 12 hours days everyday deployed overseas for 6 months. Only time I got off was when we were in port and that doesn't include days in port where I had to stand duty/watch. Oh and the Suez Canal passing. We had the day off that day too.
Oh and we had a Commanding Officer who LOVED to call General Quarters Drills almost every night between midnight and 3am, where I had to put on firefighting gear because I got voluntold to man a hose. They tell you there's no where to go on a carrier in the middle of the ocean so you best put out fires (well, you can jump overboard in the Atlantic Ocean but I hear it's not recommended. lol)

that sucks beyond words, like being stuck in a nightmare.
We had night shifts in the army but that was like only once or twice, per person, you wake up at 2am then you have the shift until 6am. And then your day is fubared because you fall asleep during class or something which is a no-no. |
