So, do I go 3950X or 10900K? I'm leaning toward the latter (mostly for game performance) - but AMD is going strong rn, so I'm not sure.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Give it a few months wait until AMD releases Zen3. It can beat Intel in gaming as well.

Current zen does not have any problems running games, even at 144hz.

still Intel beats AMD on max frames
BUT
new consoles have multi cores -> new games will use more cores better
thus in the long run AMD will be more bang for your buck
I will probably sell my 3900X and jump on Zen3
outside the temp reporting issue and the virtualization disabling AMD's own software monitoring tools - I don't have any complains

Omg, games compiled with Intel compiler have 193 fps instead of 188 fps on AMD CPUs. That's a win for Intel!

Frame Rates Matter.
5 more is like +2 cm on your unit. Milfs in your location are looking for a Nigerian prince to invest in bitcoin and deliver your parcel.

Every extra fps can matter if you game on 144Hz @ 1440p.
Sure it depends on the game engine and such but still there are games where many of us would prefer every extra fps you can have out of your rig.

Show me a modern game with a proper engine that is CPU bound at that framerate and resolution. FC5 engine must really be retarded to have such a huge difference.

i ment compared to that tiny mini ryzen
but yes the onboard gpu potential alone combined with faster ram makes mini pcs with soldered on nuc stuff really meh in my eyes when something just twice the size gives u tons of freedom and custom parts to pick from
they pulled it cause they making a new a300 lol, but beta bios seems to work fine and still on the internet

Hello everyone,
I'm pretty much out of the game concerning new CPU techs as I'm still using an old Intel 4570. I'm looking into upgrading my PC to current standards and buying a new GPU hopefully next week when nvidia announces their new cards. Since my CPU gets old (playing Flight Simulator was horrible with my specs...), I'd like to update it too.
I was thinking of waiting for the new Ryzen 4000 but I'm starting to find it takes too long for announcements to come out. Therefore, I'm looking into the competition, namely the 10700k.
What do you guys think about that one ? I read it was overheat problems with stock cooling so I'll put an aftermarket cooler on top of it.
I also read that Intel would be better than AMD for gaming ? Keeping in mind that I'm playing at 1440p on a 144Hz monitor but not competitive games like CS/BF/COD etc...

Just take any 6/12 or 8/16 or 12/24 core "normal" Desktop CPU from AMD that fits the depth of your pockets. |
Well pax you have to consider the following. There are currently Mobile 4000 series (f.e. 4500u; based on zen2), then there are current APU 4000 series (f.e. 4700g; still based on zen2 series) but there are going to be zen 3 desktop 4000 series, which bolaras might be refering to when he states that he is waiting for them. Technically you'd have to wait for the 4700g too as it is just sold out, but I don't think he meant those CPUs.
