RimWorld Royalty expansion and free update to 1.1 have been released!
The expansion includes a new system for nobles and titles, psychic powers, mechanoid combat structures, quests and rituals, luxurious palaces, Imperial technology, and new music from Alistair Lindsay.
Through all of RimWorld development from 2013 to its release in 2018, our team size hovered between two and three developers. Since the game's release, we've been scaling up. Now we're at seven developers, which has allowed us to work on multiple projects in parallel. This is how we've been able to commit resources both to improving RimWorld's core and adding new free content, as well as developing a rich expansion that opens up new kinds of gameplay.
I have around 500h, more than any game i've played i think (i tend to get tired quickly of games and just move on to the next, so this is a rare exception)
Is this a game with some kind of goal and/or story, or is it a pure sandbox game? Can I compare it to ye olde Sim City for example?
The goal is to get off the planet, you can do that in a few ways (researching, travel to a crashed ship and now a few more ways i believe). I've personally never done it, it's not really why i play. The story is very simplistic.
Unfortunately for Double Eleven, Australia's classification board has taken issue with this new release of RimWorld, slapping it with a dreaded Refused Classification rating and effectively banning its sale, albeit without a clear explanation why.
Instead, the board shared its usual boilerplate copy when justifying the rating, saying "The computer game is classified RC in accordance with the National Classification Code as computer games that 'depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults to the extent that they should not be classified.'"

i must say that sounds pretty damn awesome, but i am also of course a huge fan of The Thing and almost anything cosmic horror.
Otherwise the DLC's has been a bit of a disappointment i think, the previous one i didn't buy, Ideology i didn't like at all, Royalty is ok, but underwhelming in comparison to how good some mods can be.
This is probably my favorite game of all time. I am very careful to not ruin it by playing it too much though, so i take very, very long breaks from it (like a year or more). It will be great to be back
Some refugees joins (temporarily). Turns out the woman in the party is pregnant.
She has the baby many days later.
A few days later she decides to leave with "her people" (both which decided to join me).
I'm thinking great, then i don't need to take care of that baby.
No. She just leaves it, turns out she decides it's not "her people" . That's pretty dark
In the same Scenario. A "mute" calls out via Radio and asks for help.
First time playing with babies/kids. I wonder what it'll really add apart from a terrible nuisance.. i hope they become adults in like 200 days or something.
I think its a mod issue, these modders probably think that the base game alone will be able to figure it out, but it doesn't since it's not programmed to have these scenarios.
Also god damnit Randy Random, you are so boring.. no raids or anything for what feels like months now, gonna try changing the difficulty and story teller.

I have the same issue, my last 3 Randy + strive runs has have around 5 or 6 raids per season and a few events and missions mostly dlc related. No challenge whatsoever and quite boring frankly. I might try cassandra, one level above strive and tribal start to check how it changes the game, but I hate the game trying so hard to give you a balanced experience :/
yeah, you'd imagine Randy Random would be a bit more "wild" but lol, no. Overall the game would do better with more than those 3 story tellers.
Edit: I just googled and realized there are modded story tellers, i might give those a try. It's great you can change story tellers without restarting.
I changed to a modded one called "Perry Persistent".
Messing with the genes stuff now, seems cool. Quite imaginative, turns your pawns into vampires for 2 years basically. Interesting mechanic.
My favorite thing to do in Rimworld is actually travel so of course this will be a day 1 purchase for me. Always has seemed like a missed opportunity for the base game to not expand up on it. Haven't played in like a year so it's going to be great to dive back in
I never got around purchasing the Anomaly DLC, it seemed a bit disappointing, not something that integrates that well if you just want to play like you usually do.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
