It's clear they are giving it away for free, in the hopes that people buy some DLC and maybe they will recoup some losses. Wink

Well, I have to give credit, where credit is due. The app didn't crash, the servers didn't crash and getting the game took mere seconds...

That in itself is already very positive!

Remember the Ubi debacle not long ago?

Anyway, installing!

That's how you know it's shit. When they gave away GTAV, their whole site was cratered for half a day.

Quick first impression:

I like the new resource system, it adds depth and isn't as badly implemented as in Britannia.

Everything is very small, which on one side makes it harder to see things, but allows for more realistic town sizes. Sieges are certainly better than in warhammer.

Combat feels very arcade-ish. Units are fast as hell and die quick as paper Smile Definitely needs some modding.

A.I. seems OK enough, though haven't had huge battles yet, so remains to be seen.

Major negative point for me, and it's the same for me with Britannia, 3k and even Shogun... the campaign map. And it's not even the size, and it's huge, but that I don't know or better don't care about 99% of it
You could honestly randomly generate names and I wouldn't know the difference. I recognise a few key locations, but the vast majority of cities and towns I never heard of.

That being said, with some modding to make battles a bit slower and less arcadeish, I think it's a solid tw game.

If only they made medieval 3 or empire 2... with maps and factions I know and give a shot about Smile

@Sin How is performance? Apparently it uses the W2TW engine, not China Total War, which is clearly far superior in the optimization department.

heh , funny i am the total opposite Very Happy
I rarely ever care about the actually battle (only when absolutely necesary) and enjoy messing around with the campaign maps in the "grand strategy lite style"
