IF there's an unbearable fish-eye effect, it means they made it wider (with latest updates). But I doubt it. It's just you not standing the fish-eye effect.
Most games I play in the 100-110 FOV have some fish-eye view that I got used with.
FOV at over 100 never looks good and just feels unnatural, i use 85-87 or so..
seems like it was a one time graphical bug i had with the space rocks btw... now they work like they should. i also downloaded some mod to improve the LOD https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1316
Interesting fix i found for my stuttering (every once in a while it would stutter like crazy for a second, quit annoying when the game otherwise is super smooth).
lower everything to lowest possible
restart
put everything on ultra
restart
No stuttering at all, game is as smooth as playing Quake 2 basically..
guess some setting was fucked up and gets a reset by doing this.
maybe helpful to someone else..
i also haven't seen any weirdness after this (ground and plants popping up directly infront of me etc)
I start this game and play for some hour or two from time to time and then i realize i want it to get even more content.. i guess i'll wait until 2025 or whenever they decide to move on
Damn, not bad at all, they keep impressing me. The new flora is fantastic. Good to see NPC's on planets, but still no human-like enemies it seems.
So glad i haven't played this to death and don't want to touch it again... the big question is just went to start playing if they keep this up it'll go from "really good" to "god-like" in a year or two.
I will play it when it hits final version. Hello Games just made a new game so they probably want to wrap No Man's Sky soon and focus on something new (and hopefully bigger and better) now that they fixed their reputation.
I just can't play this game right now because there will be some new big update/s in the next year or two and I (almost) never replay a game.
They were saying this is a small update of something bigger, like the first update they did, so yes, if there's any truth to it i don't think it's a good idea to start playing it yet. I get tired of games very easily so i'm probably gonna wait too.. I just hope they're not expanding it to the degree that it turns into a buggy mess..
I also hope they eventually don't listen to the base builders who cry like babies about not wanting to have the universe reset and regenerated completely. fuck them. The game's progress is more important than what they are, they can restart or they can keep playing on their old version.
No matter how much updates this game had so far... each time I try to play it, there's always that feeling that something is still missing.
I guess it depends on which approach you have, goals etc. For me it's mostly about discovery of new planets + upgrading ship and earning money and go further into the galaxy. Base Building isn't my thing, but i guess a lot of players are happy with that part, finding that "perfect planet" for base building.
I want better ground combat, more missions. I also wouldn't mind at least 1 memorable character.. if the game had way better missions (more variation) and more fleshed out story and NPC's it would probably be my favorite game. So yes, i still think its missing some elements, key elements even. But again, i can play it and just have a different approach and enjoy it for what it is.
I would say that at least they are truly living up to the "adding further content for free".
Of course they forgot to actually tag the game as early access soooo......

Yeah.
Tried also various approaches, but each time I boot the game, I get hit by the art / design of the planets; it feels so artificial, too colorful, too serviceable, completely unrealistic.
Tbh, I was more immersed in an alien world while driving the Mako in Mass Effect 1...
I am surprised you are not bothered by the painfully artificially outlandish flora (and fauna) they spawn everywhere.
As for flora it's very hit and miss, and yeah it does feel artificial, but since i understand why i'm ok with it. it's also improving, more flora is added, generation gets better, landscapes gets more interesting..
The overall graphics style i have no problem with, it's not aiming for realism, it's more like a sci-fi comic book, which i like. "Outlandish" i also don't have a problem with since that's the theme here..
