performance is exactly same as with protection enabled.
not exactly , looking at those spikes
My god, stop watching anime shit while benchmarking ...
Here are my results, I never had these crazy CPU spikes, you should spend some time optimizing the windows performance. No point to post without DRM, it's basically same.
They don't represent utilization, they represent frame time in ms.
Ah, I see, I read the graphs as CPU and GPU utilization. But now I wonder how they recorded this information, CPU in particular. Where is that image taken from anyway? What is the source?
Still seems like a very insignificant load, despite the spikes. The frame score is within margin of error and average result seems the same. Frame pacing could have suffered more. And that 3600 is a rather low-end CPU at that. I'd assume running the same test on a higher end CPU would minimize the effects much more.
Probably the time it takes CPU to offload all needed data to GPU or some other part. You actually can feel them in gameplay as micro stutter. It depends which part of the map are you on. On dessert part I don't get them also with R5 2600, but in busy city like Memphis they do occur, since there is much more things CPU has to process.

AMD GPU could be down to the lack of D3D11 driver command list functionality but on NVIDIA as long as the CPU isn't holding the game back the overall CPU and GPU utilization should be pretty even although the games get ridiculously heavy with draw calls and the asset streaming can easily cause hitching as well possibly tied to just how much the engine is doing with those draw calls and forcing on D3D11 and the GPU and CPU.
Need to read up on it more though, D3D11 seems to be able to handle around 10k calls/second with Mantle and later Vulkan and D3D12 doing 100k/s
Assassin's Creed Unity was already pushing into 50k and Origins about 3x so 150k/s with Odyssey somewhere above even that.
Borderless would benefit from Windows 10 improvements such as full-screen optimizations when it does do it's thing and potentially also flip model presentation and flip discard but for full screen exclusive mode the GPU is already there and doing it's thing without additional frames and latency so that's not the full solution either.
CPU wise even post-Windows 10 2019 1909 / 18363.xxx the game schedules OK on Intel and tends to fumble AMD CPU balancing leading to well mostly additional work for the CPU but performance and smoothness or frame pacing shouldn't be terribly affected just a bit more ineffective so the CPU works harder.
And then for the multi-threaded rendering, deferred command lists and driver command lists the game or some programmer had the idea to make a hard set 8 here though the game itself creates a good number of worker threads and ideally needs at least a hexa core CPU better yet a octa core or both the games will struggle a bit.
(Worsened in Odyssey since it is more demanding even without going all out on the fancy framerate killing barely any visible difference on higher settings volumetric cloud option. )
Most of the games should run on quads though but hit any larger city and that's going to be a problem plus the bigger view distances and size of the game world will hit the CPU at times too particularly Odyssey with the even larger world map and tons of smaller clutter and distant objects to account for whereas Egypt was a bit more flat.
(IE it culled non visible stuff more frequently as it was usually obstructed and not visible to the player/camera.)
EDIT: For NVIDIA and NVAPI and how this works CPU core 0 should be around 90 - 100% and the rest of the seven cores and including hyper threading should be close to full utilization probably all at or around 100% for stuff like Alexandria or Athens.
AMD can hover around 60 - 80% CPU though it does peak up to near 100% as well but it fluctuates more, surprisingly though even with Vega and earlier the GPU's hold up pretty well though NVIDIA has a clear advantage and the performance lead but only the earlier drivers are outright broken in terms of performance for the games.
Navi or the 5700 (XT) is less CPU bound but then also more reliant on the CPU not holding the GPU back at the same time since the dynamic clock speeds immediately lower if anything is holding the GPU back which might not be a big framerate dip itself but it does non-fun stuff to actual frame times and how smooth the resulting gameplay feels hitching or stuttering briefly while this happens.
(Less problematic in newer drivers but still a part of just how the card works and not resolved as such.)
EDIT: I do still have a lot more to learn on this though so still not the best understanding of all these things not that it should be needed or anything to just play the game.
(Whoop no you can't do that without knowing the CPU and GPU harmony, RAM efficiency and the way the OS and drivers and software will all try to utterly clock-block the game. )
This is a long thread and difficult to go through it all to see if anyone's been through the same (and the search function is shit) but I installed this game the latest version w/ DLCs (incl. the crackfix), and the exe sits in taskmanager for half a minute and disappears. No errors, warnings or pretty much anything. Ironically enough I ever got this error once... and it was on the same day with Control. And I was playing control's older brother Quantum Break a few days just fine which uses the same engine. I mean.. wtf? Anyone had the same issue?
Odyssey does most things from Origins better, I thought.
The numbers don't decide, the system is a lie. The river running dry, the wings of butterflies.

Wont disagree with Il_Padrino, but still liked Origins better. First time with the new combat system and pretty much a new AC in every way. THAT(!) was cool, and WAY on overtime. The map is huge, but still interesting. Loved to check out tombs and those huge pyramids. To me it just felt more interesting. But this is just my opinion ofc
Odyssey is HUGE. I mean, they got all the greek islands. But some of them lack a bit of content, at least back when I played it (and it was without DLC, no idea if that matters). Some parts felt a bit empty. Story was OK, and yeah combat system, and what Origins brought is still there... just didn't love it as much.
I also enjoyed Odyssey much more, in fact i tried to play Origins after finishing Odyssey but was more obvious to me that Odyssey is just better in any regard, better characters (Kassandra ), better combat, nicer looking and just feels like a more refined experience.
BUT from most opinions especially here on Hump it seems that Origins is the more loved game, so you should really try and watch gameplay vids yourself and see which looks better.
Origins is still a very good game, it was my favourite after AC2. But to my own surprise, Odyssey was an improvement still.
But the settings of Origins is perhaps a bit more original and offers nicer vistas. And it has pyramids indeed

I think also once you're done with Origins, Odyssey just doesn't feel different enough, it's just "more of the same". Because while in the beginning you are more in desert regions, during the last third of the game, in Origins, you are mostly in very greek style areas with lots of vegetation and mountains etc, like the greek mainland.
Also the DLC, especially the Atlantis one, are more enjoyable than Orgigins DLC. The locations are very different from the base game and the story is more connected to the present day/Isu stuff.
As for Odyssey DLCs i thought that Legacy of the First Blade was very good and added some good story. The Fate of Atlantis was meh to me and even tho it had different setting i didn't care for it.
