Can anyone recommend a decent headset (with mic) for ~$100 or so? I don't mind if it's wired at all. It will be used for my home office (meetings) and gaming. Thanks all!

Depending on your location.

Phillips SHP9500 + Vmoda boom mic.

Can't get better than that. Period.

Hmm. I might have to look into that down the road. For now, I tried out my Bose II noise cancelling headset w/mic via a bluetooth dongle I had. I asked my coworker how it sounded and he said it was fine. It's not ideal for coop gaming/chat, but when volume needs to be low for evening gaming time, its good.

Spykez - Not sure if I'm being dumb or what, but I can't get the mic to work with this setup. So, I have the Y-connector plugged into the mic and stereo ports which then goes into the single connection of the mic, which then plugs into the actual headphone jack. The speakers work fine, but the mic does not. Any suggestions?

I've not used the mic port before (USB connector previously) so I'm not ruling out a bad or missing motherboard connector just yet. I just have to find an actual lined mic laying around to test that heh.

If you were using USB before, your default device may not have switched over if you didn't do it manually.

Thank you Spykez. I got it fixed up. I had to enable "split line-in between rear and front ports" in my sound card settings. Never had a case with a mic jack in the front until now so I just wasn't familiar with that setting.

You 100% should stay away from those front ports. They're always so badly implemented they cause more issues than they solve, especially with the lowered quality in both headphones and the mic.
