What is the average annual income in Switzerland?
In Switzerland, the average household net adjusted disposable income per capita is
USD 37 466 a year, higher than the OECD average of USD 33 604 a year. There is a considerable gap between the richest and poorest – the top 20% of the population earn nearly five times as much as the bottom 20%.

Quote:
How much money do you need to live comfortably in Switzerland?
The average salary in Switzerland is 7000 Sfr per month. This is usually just about enough to live a decent life in most places of Switzerland - as a couple. 5000–6000 Sfr per month is fine if you live away from Basel, Bern, Zürich, and especially Geneva.

Guess where I live Smile I'm not poor, but I am not rich. I'm not even middle-class, lol.

And don't even get me started on living costs... we pay over 1200CHF a month for healthcare (mandatory base health insurance, 3 people in the household). 1300 for rent...

We're on the same boat m8. Crying or Very sad If it was not for VPN prices i would probably buy 2 or 3 games per year at maximum. Hopefully this wont be blocked soon.

Oh, please... Your idea of "not even middle-class" is VERY different than other EU countries'. Rolling Eyes

You don't want to know what people in a country like Romania can tell you about 'living costs' or what 'not even middle-class' means.
_

On the matter specifically:

I don't think this will be blocked by Valve. It's already part of the economy and changing this will have a drastic impact on everyone. And this situation is not involving only Valve, but the developers also. And most of them ARE AWARE of world economics, poverty and all the bullshit happening. That's why, I bet, they rather have someone buy their game for 8-16 USD / EURO than not buying it al all.

Because the vast majority of the people buying the games at 'discount' are doing it so because they can't afford it otherwise. Let's not forget that we are living on a planet where 1 out of 8 people is still struggling to get food and 70% of the population is living with under 10k USD a year...

So, yea... if they change this and reach further into the people's pockets, they might have a big surprise: there's nothing more there.

I think for Valve 30% of lowly peso is better than 30% of 0 dollars or euro.

Anyway most AAA publisher are seeing the situation and are monitoring reddits and such and modify their price to be the same everywhere. EA, Ubi, CAPCOM etc. are priced pretty high so if you are into AAA, Argentina isn't that special. The change happened around Winter Sale I think.

The article is bullshit. The price increase has nothing to do with VPNS .

Horizon is priced at $20 at playstore (USA).

So it looks like it's a rather primitive marketing scheme: "Hey, we are releasing this cool game for you, PC gamers, but, did you know you could buy it much cheaper for our PS4 console!?? And we have lots of exclusive shit as well!"

PS Sony is selling new PS4 AAA games in Russia for $48-55 . Laughing

And they have increased prices for some games to $62.

Imagine this in our dystopian future...

Quote:

A woman walks into a hair salon. The hair stylist scans her, discovers she lives in a rich part of Berlin, and says her services will cost 50 EUR.

A while later, another woman walks into the same salon. The hair stylist scans her as well, discovers she's from a poor part of Berlin, and says her services will cost 35 EUR instead.

Finally, a third woman walks into the salon, and the scan reveals she's visiting from Argentina. The stylist says she'll charge her 20 EUR for the same services.

If you think that's fair, then kudos to you. I'd say it's a classical case of discrimination, and that regional pricing for online products should be gone altogether. It's roughly equivalent to adjusting your prices based on statistical data on income, meaning that one could use the same reasoning to argue that prices should differ between genders or races (which is completely wrong imo ).

The only valid reason for price differences is when you have to pay different salaries for people in different countries (e.g., different costs in supermarkets), but that's not the reason for price differences on online platforms such as Steam.

Anyway, /rant off Smile

Nothing as long as they don't force ppl to their real region at login your account will stay Argentinian.
I personally never used a vpn to buy anything just to change the store region once.
