i played the xbox demo its EXACTLY the same as the ps2 version. It just looks alot sharper which leads me to call bullshit on IGN no way on earth those videos they posted saying this is the ps2 version are the ps2 version. On the xbox you can see alot better what you are doing and objects in the distance and the explosions and particles look helluva lot better on the xbox version.

The xbox demo was problary just a newer build than the ps2 demo which was a very old build.
It makes no sense that the xbox version would look much better since Critereon always build their games around the ps2. If they made their games for the xbox first of all, then all the burnout games and any other game they made would look alot better on the xbox compared to the ps2 since the xbox has more power. But as we all know, they dont.
I think they choose to focus on the ps2 and then just make the more or less same version on the xbox since this is the fastest way of doing two versions. Instead of doing a more advanced version on the xbox first and then port it over to the much harder platform, the ps2.
Ign have obviously also played a newer build than what we have.

The framerate was also a lot better on the Xbox version of the Demo.

ummm burnout revenge looks better on my xbox compared to my ps2. This demo is exactly and i mean down to the last bit the same as the ps2 version the difference is the frame rate is better the aiming is smoother (we all know the ps2 controller is shit for FPS games) and the textures and draw distance are way better on the xbox it looks smoother FPS games on ps2 always kinda look blocky because of the lower res, the smoke and particle effects look better. I'll put money on it that there's gonna be a bit of a difference in the graphics quality/frame rate department between the two versions, ps2 just doesnt cut it for FPS games.
Anyways i'm hoping this game blows me away i havent been blown away by a game since god of war on the ps2, that game was a mile stone in design and production with wicked gameplay to boot. I'm hoping this game turns out as explosive as the previews and hype would lead you to beleive

dvsone, I never said that it doesn't look better, I said that it doesn't look much better. I have also played the games on both platforms, and the xbox version is crisper but it's hardly a big difference and this is because, as I said earlier, Critereon always develop their games around the ps2 hardware. This is why their games run at 60fps on the ps2 with visuals that are close to the xbox version.
If their games would be developed around the xbox, to take advantage of the xbox's superior hardware, then the ps2 wouldn't archive these 60fps and these great visuals which is damn close to the xbox's visuals.
And dvsone, how is Ign lying? If you look at the "Up the hill" video you can clearly see how the square button pops up when you get the chance to swap weapon.
So the videos are very much from the ps2 version.
So ps2 people, dont worry, you will get a just as smooth game as the xbox people.
This is not a "which is better" post, I just want to clear things up.
On a sidenote, both controllers are poo when it comes to fps, the gamecube owns both systems at this.

yeah Critereon is one of the few companies that can make a game on Ps2 virtual identical to its xbox counterpart, just like it did with its Burnout series.
EA take note!

heh, yeah i tried it myself yesterday as well.
and yeah, indeed it looks sweet. im hoping for a release this week.
the "balcony" killing i thought looked a bit weired though. i would have thought the guy would fly backwards, but instead he came flying down my way. hmmm nevermind, takes away only little from the game as a whole.
crossing fingers.

ok to put this to rest i emailed their pr a few days ago and finally got a response. Both demos are old builds and were used at E3 last year, they were built around roughly the same time so could be considered fair in a comparison way. The xbox version looks and controls heaps better than the ps2 (thats not to say it doesnt look good for a ps2 game) so i'll stick by what i said and having both the demos i can say xbox is clrly the winner from these builds.

If it's one thing I have learned in my 28 years, it's to not bother with people that wont listen.
So I will explain the demo deal, and leave it at that.
It's not strange that the xbox demo runs better, because it takes alot less time to get something up and running at good speeds on the xbox than it does on the ps2, this is basic knowledge (harder to program on the ps2, remember?). And therefor it can never be a fair comparison because the ps2 needs more time to produce what the xbox do in less time. And that's why the xbox demo runs better, and that's why it's a fucked up comparison.
The videos is what you shuld look at, and they look absolutley incredible and runs absolutley incredible. End of discussion.

I take it not many people bother with you then? You know, God hates fanboi's.

how is the gameplay? I played until now only medal of honor europein assault and the contols are crazy for me, unplayable. Left analog is for walk and right for aim, and i really hate it. Are the Black contols the same. Im playing FPS only on PC with a mouse.

"Left analog is for walk and right for aim". How else would you have it? Thats the only way to play fps on a console.

i know some people who use left stick for horizontal aiming and walking forwards/backwards,
right stick for strafing and vertical aiming.
i know it sounds weird but a friend of mine plays like that and does it pretty good, so i guess its a thing of commotion.

I haven't played an FPS on a console in a while. After playing Call of Duty 2, FEAR, Half-Life 2, and Battlefield 2 all on PC, my precision sucks. I can aim in the enemies general direction, but I can't really get precise with my shots. Also, turning around seems much slower. I miss the mouse and keyboard.
