The Magnum 2100 clips are slugs so I guess they're for the shotgun (which I didn't find). I ran out of ammo and then I ran out of energy and couldn't find a recharge station. It's pre-alpha though so anything could change between now and release.

They specifically state they're slugs for the Magnum 2100 handgun though But yeah, it's alpha so egh Definitely enjoyed what I played though, no doubt, the full version is going to be great!
Pre Alpha stage. Maybe most of us won't be around when it comes out.
It's not pre-alpha... but everything is labeled that these days, all the way up until a month before release.. Not very believable though.
Release date is early next year afaik. Of course, that can change (release date has already been pushed so it would be no surprise).
The date will definitely get changed. They said "probably Q1 of 2020" as an offhand comment in 2018, and that's about it. It won't stick.

It's quite promising indeed, the current demo feels like the old one with the obvious changes in terms of lighting due to the different engine. Both faithful to the original game and more accessible, though without adding unnecessary invasive pears. Let's hope everything proceeds smoothly this time!
For me the door doesn't open I right click on the button but nothing happens..
edit I quit the game and now it crashes on startup and I can't play Nothing seems to be fixing it, so I will try again tomorrow after I restart.

You're not ignoring the text message at the top of the UI are you? If you rclick and nothing happens, look at the top of the UI. You might see a message stating "Broken" or "Need access card"
I will have to take a look tomorrow, but I noticed no such message, so maybe that's it and I wasn't paying attention. Thanks.

It's a tiny message, the real "blink and you miss it" kind, and definitely doesn't announce its presence in any way It's the same place you find info about anything you highlight with your mouse cursor.
- The game wouldn't start not even today, so I had to delete the settings files to fix that.
- I didn't really understand why I couldn't open the door yesterday (I'm sure it was my mistake), but today all is good.
- The game is in many rooms TOO dark and I can't see shit. The previous demo wasn't like that.

Yup, add my experience of "performance often tanked for no reason, especially when interacting with puzzle boxes, plus it was insanely over-dark" to the mix. Still great though, I definitely think they've hit the right notes so far
If it's a remake and a faithful one you just grab the laser rapier and shove it up around to the hilt and outright destroy all enemy opposition. Problem is what to do until you actually get it though.
Maybe it's the sparq or stun gun requiring a bit of a charge and doing some variable damage and taking a bit of time to prep instead of just having enough of X ammo and pointing and clicking on the mutant/cyborg until it's broken.
EDIT: Seriously the laser rapier might not have been the best in the sequel plus it had some criteria (Though the big crystal beat stick required - somehow - even more skill to use.) but in the first game it kinda kills things dead. 200 damage and 80 armor ignore more than almost anything else in the entire game and not hampered by variable damage or things like ammo.
remember halflife demo, with the marines, a whole seperate map, mindblowing AI ... if u want to show off ur work, u show ur best work, not third grade outsourced to fiver elephant dung
It's beginning to look pretty good and smooth. It won't win any prizes when it comes to "looks" but that's not really the point of the System Shock remake. It's about modernizing the original game (which had really quirky controls and looked like crap) and giving us a chance to experience the story in a modern format.
Yessir, and it looks like they really are doing it justice. It's the same game.. just prettied up a bit and with *infinitely* better controls/UI. That's all any of us really wanted after all, right? I wonder if this is a success, whether Nightdive will remake SS2 next? I'd be up for that!
The updated demo (Medical level) is on Steam in case anyone wants to give it a whirl.
Was there something updated compared to the beta of that level released to supporters in December? I don't see any news on Steam.
Nightdive said it's the newest version but I'm guessing there have been only relatively minor changes and tweaks compared to that one. Still very much an alpha-ish beast
It's updated here as well. So far I've noticed:
- Slightly extended intro
- You now climb into the surgery machine to heal (just like in the really really old demo)
- Stim patches have new icons
- Frag grenades
- Minipistol
- Humanoid mutants with clothes (and hair!)
- Audio logs re-recorded
- Sparq beam has multiple power settings and can overheat
- Mag-pulse rifle
- Groups of mutants that spawn when you're not expecting and kill you, so you have to restart the demo...
- Night-vision, reflex enhancer patches
- Gas, EMP grenades
- Cyborg assassins

Still no fixed/estimated release date, right? On the previous page someone mentioned this year, maybe. With all the covid-19 shitshow I'm guessing... not

None of the human corpses have any items on them yet so I guess I'll wait for some later version then. Also, walking up and down the stairs needs a lot more work.
But, at this rate, I wonder if it'll ever get finished TBH.
