A bitch to find the isodemo with the latest version though. I would have bought it if it weren't so damn expensive for a 3 year old game.

AC Odyssey, finished main game and Legacy of the First Blade, total of about 130 hours.

First time i play AC more then a few hours, it was a good and enjoyable experience for me.

I liked Kassandra and rest of characters are also very nice, also the First Blade story is cool and as it's my first AC game i'm going to read and watch more to further understand the story, after i will play Origins.

As for the gameplay.. it's a hit and miss for me
I did have fun but at the same time it can be boring and for sure they need to reduce the size and some of the quests are unnecessary.
I at first cleaned every island i was in, including all "?" marks.
But i was wrong and it was to much, so i focused on main and side quests.

Combat is simple and fun, but will eventually become boring.
I switched from sword\blades\poison to heavy bladed and fire to change things a bit.

I really hope that for Valhalla they will tight things over...
Smaller world with less flller quests and locations, better combat with less 1000 same old sowrd with different stats, give me 20 good weapons and armor and the ability to upgrade and be done with it.

All in all i did enjoy and still have Atlantis DLC to play. Smile

The two Thief games and it's mods and fan made maps do give a incredible amount of content while unofficial patches and other efforts restore content or just make it more playable on modern systems.

It's not bad and the emergent gameplay system Looking Glass Studios was going for also works.
Sound design and AI has some solid things and still hold up even if there's some technical limits and other than character models by default being a bit rough the level design in both games is still incredible even as the first game was still finding what it was going for and sometimes veer into more adventure game than thieving game. Very Happy

One of the strengths of modding I suppose unfortunately it's less supported these days and it's map packs or other DLC and promoting the next sequel instead as a unfortunate development in video gaming and the culture between devs and players then and now.

EDIT: Watching a playthrough of No One Lives Forever at the moment, impressive what Monolith could do after the problems with Shogo (Lots of cut stuff.) and Blood 2 (It was, not ready.) plus just the developers having a lot of fun doing a incredibly good 1960's spy game.

On to the sequel after that, wonder if the licensing hell will ever see it return and get updated for modern systems but maybe.

EDIT: Oh right it had that British gentleman too.

Well that could start a bit of a outcry too I suppose ha ha.

yeah cool games for its time..

Both Thief1-2 and System Shock 2 still kind of works graphically, especially when the textures are upgraded. It's not like their environments needs tons of polygons to work. The character models are still rough though.

Years ago i did updates for its water and several other textures, and ofc the tree models and grass.. Though i didn't use my own mods this time, i just downloaded some mod pack called Thief 2 HD texture pack. Seems like he's included a few of my textures (no credit given, thx dude) but I don't care, as long as he's not having a Patreon page up, that would piss me off..

I've been busy with emulators recently as im so impreessed at how far many of them have progressed since I last tried them. With many of my favourite games on consoles now actually being playable via emulation nowadays when they wouldn't even boot to a loading screen before.
In particular with Xenia (xbox360) and RPCS3 (PS3). Huzzah!. I think it's quite amazing how many of the games I have since tried are now playable without major bugs and glitches. Almost a complete 180 since my last experience using them.
Most noteworthy accomplishments for me have been the following games.

Ace Combat 6 Fires of liberation (Xenia)
Zoids Assault (Xenia)
Project Slypheed (Xenia)
Persona 4 Ultimax (PC emulated version of the ps3 title)
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (rpcs3)
Persona 5 (rpcs3)
Fight Night 4 (rpcs3)
Wipeout Fury HD (rpcs3)
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Evo (rpcs3)
Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the patriots (rpcs3)
Dragons Crown (rpcs3)
Metal Gear Solid HD collection: Peace Walker (rpcs3)
Ghost in a Shell Stand Alone pcsx2
Rogue Squadron (Dolphin)

all these games never used to work before (bar GITS) and i've been waiting years for them to finally become playable on a PC. Although I haven't tested every game fully yet, it does seem that they are playable in as far as getting into the game without any major bugs or glitches and being able to move around and being able to do everything that you are meant to do, so to speak, although I don't know yet if they are playable from start to finish with the limited time I have spent on each game so far. More a case of quantity over quality generally, trying to test as many as possible without delving too deeply into any particular one as of yet.

Some I tried haven't been so successfull unfortunately, such as Gran Turismo 6, Operation Darkness, and The Last Of Us but still, it does seems just a matter of time now until they will be fully playable, I hope?.
GT6 for instance only gets as far as the loading screen for me, however some users have managed to get into game and race, before crashes occur with different emulator builds. Good progress nevertheless I think though. if anyone knows the status of some of these emulated games, via more extensive testing then the short time I have had with each, please feel free to let me know please. I would be interested still, to know just how complete some of them are before I get my hopes up too high lol. Ta!
Some random screens from some of the games mentioned above!.

Emulator backlog is something I haven't looked at too much but there's a lot of good games from the 8 and 16 bit console generation alone and then as proficiency with the various early and later 32-bit consoles moved along there's even more. Very Happy

As a JRPG fan there's probably a ton of untranslated very interesting projects too but the earlier ones would also have the earlier mindset on tons of grinding and rougher controls even for what's fan translated reasonably well.

Back before the shift to handheld and mobile and pandering of certain tropes or market demographics even if some of that existed back then too if not worse since CERO and other ratings were less of a thing so games and media got away with some stuff same as with the West although here a few studios outright challenged or used violence or sexuality as a marketing gimmick ha ha.

Game wise well Dead Rising 1's partially replayed holds up really well although the follower AI requires micro managing which the sequels will gradually improve and then simplify and then just outright remove.

Plus while it can't be used very effectively Dead Rising 1 also lets you wield the big gun instead or relying on duct tape or power armor. Razz

Liking the setting and overall atmosphere a bit more too, less comedy even if it has moments and a bit darker tone overall seen in just about anything plus a good attention to detail although that lasted until Capcom Vancouver in the US took over though Capcom JP also had some involvement apparently thus Dead Rising 3 and it's sequel being so removed from the series origins trying to be mainstream and streamlined for a broader appeal.

EDIT: Real life the M.2 is apparently good enough it only needed one revision later on to the M2A1 or something like that years after it's introduction and it's reliable enough to be a confirmed effective sniper weapon but yeah it's a bipod mounted gun. Razz
(It's simple, robust and fires .50 so what exactly would need to be improved anyway.)

Frank West just has enough body mass to mitigate the recoil I suppose heh.

Don't suppose you have any idea about Metal Gear 4 do you vikerness?. I haven't played this since release and have always been wanting to replay this ever since. Nows probably a good time too, but since my ps3 blu-ray drive broke an emu is the only way i'm going to get to play it now. It's been, so far so good, with a reasonable framerate and minimal graphical artifacts. But nothing major which has affected gameplay though fortunately. Wondering how the rest of the game will fare though, as rpcs3 states that it's only ingame compatibility at the mo...?

Wasteland 3.
k, the most obvious differences i've noticed from the previous game is in the pacing. The narrative seems tighter too, but granted this is the very start of the game so it may all changge later. There's no crouch anymore, but it made no difference to me at all with it's exclusion tbh, even though a few people have kicked up a fuss about that. Due to the pacing of the game (more streamlined and quicker then before) there didn't seem to be a need for it anyway... hmm what else.. the inventory management needs work, but it's still in a beta stage so thats minor. Overall though, I did enjoy the trial still and found it fun to play.

Yep, stealth aside, I think the crouching was pretty redundent in combat other then giving a set percentage to hit or miss anyway ampegv4. Now the system is probably more fluid I think, as you may have noticed with the invisible grid determining movement and placement now. It's all kinda like a snap too mechanic ampeg, where if you move next to rocks the toon will now automatically use it as cover etc, etc. I haven't tested all the skills yet though so i'm not entirely sure whats really working and whats not tbh. The main thing is that I found it enjoyable to play still though. Hope you will like the differences they have made in the game too, as unfortunately it seems to have drawn some criticism from some folks who feel it's more like x-com nowadays and lost whatever appeal it had from WL2.

Were energy weapons reworked somehow? I'm playing WL2 at the moment and they're so weak for targets with "soft" armor (which is, so far, the majority of your opponents, at least in Arizona) that it isn't even funny Sad

I haven't had the chance to use them yet tonizito sorry. I managed to pick up an energy pistol but I didn't have the ammuition/cells at the time so I ended up investing the skill points into ballistic guns. Sods law, I picked up quite a bit of ammunition for energy weapons afterwards. Sad

If you want to try the Last of Us, a patch vastly improving its emulation came out a few days ago :

It's hacky but kinda works, so if you already got the ISO laying around, could be worth a shot. .
