Rather than a straight port of the original Mafia to modern platforms, Mafia: Definitive Edition is a faithful remake that enhances the 2002 classic in every way, delivering an experience that's even better than you remember. The beautiful presentation, with stunning visuals that are 4K/HDR-ready and a sweeping soundscape featuring an original score, breathe new life into this vision of organized crime in 1930s America. Lifelike cutscenes present Mafia's narrative like never before, with Tommy's gripping story faithfully captured and expanded to give insights into characters we only got to glimpse in the original game. And the immersive gameplay has been updated to entertain newcomers and old-school fans alike, with added features like a larger Lost Heaven to explore, motorcycles introduced as a new vehicle type, collectibles to seek out, and much more.

SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
they mentioned the prague and brno branches (aka shells of late 2K Czech/Illusion Softworks) before the US ones (aka Hangar rgar made M3) in the stream ... so hopefully the US branches just help with the M3 engine and its in dev in the cz ones
Hangar 13's homepage says nothing about Mafia 1, only about 2 and 3.. they do mention trillogy, but no screens or credit is taken for Mafia 1 remake.
It's odd or even fishy that there are no interviews, no videos, no one really knows who's behind the game (it doesn't even have a dedicated site)... and it's months before release. This is not how you normally would try to "sell" a hit game, which a proper remake obviously would be.
They must have been working on this for many years if it's even close to being something half-decent. Maybe it's so terrible that no one is wanting the "credit" for it.. a quick cashgrab. at least its the feeling im getting here.
If they had balls and proper confidence they would have shown tons of gameplay, done many interviews by now.. Color me very surprised if this is not absolute shite.
Well, according to the wokémons in the videogame industry Vavra is a filthy filthy nazi so it's kinda natural if 2K is not heavily publicizing the remake if (best case scenario) it follows closely to the first game.
If not, then I'm curious to see how they'll butcher it

Vavra is troll at first but he is also kinda right wing, nationalist etc. I am not saying he is nazi but ...
kinda right wing troll because nationalism.. yeah right.. nationalism is a norm in almost the entire world, there are a few countries like Sweden, UK, Germany where it's considered something bad (yet you can bet your ass the same people will still speak positively about e.g any Africans or Brasilians etc etc being super nationalistic, then it's something beautiful).
Vavra just comes of as someone with some common sense and as someone who's not buying into woke or hardcore leftwing narratives.

Bit confused keeping track of all this - if I have the original Mafia in my Steam library will this automatically upgrade to Definitive like the other two or not? Never ended up buying it because of the licensed music fiasco, but if that ends up being the case I'll grab it.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Hmm, would be good to know?, as one can get a key for original Mafia for $6, but will it upgrade?

I thought the Devs originally said it would be similar to how GTA IV changed into one collection so you would get the new version of part 1 if you owned all 3 but an article today on a gaming site said this is not the case and they are selling it as its own game but you will get a discount if you own the part 2 and 3. Still we just have to wait and see if they get some backlash for this and make an official statement on it.
if you own the original mafia you dont get any benefits, because its a remake, if you own 2 and 3 you get the def edition free. But THQ statet when you own all 3 games you get a form of discount.
I just want to see how the ending of the 1st MAFIA looks like in the REMAKE way..

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I am so not sold on new voice of Tommy's. He wasn't a wise guy in the original, just a normal cab driver that gets into the mob almost by mistake. In the remastered version he sounds like Joe Pesci.
