The Movie was like a parody of the book. IIRC the book is much more serious and darker. The movie was borderline "scary movie" territory, lol.

Tonight's 'lockin' viewing:

The Boat - 6.5/10

Has it's flaws, but better than I expected, although, I do like answers Wink

The Elevator - 7/10

Nicely done, and makes you think. Don't watch if your easily offended about racism lol.

Dark Encounter - 9/10

Superb!! Terrific flick, me and wife enjoyed this one. Fantastic story and acting, and will definitely watch this again sometime. Best I've seen in ages.

My Spy (2020) 4,5/10

It's your typical romantic comedy with action...seems like every action star has to do at least one of these during their career.
I mean Vin Diesel had "the Pacifier", The Rock had "Toothfairy", Arnie had "Kindergarten cop(though this is actually good) and so on.

Well now Bautista has "My Spy" and it's exactly what you expect. Very Happy

Bad boys 3 4 lyfe
With all the negativity I decided to give it a go.
What a horrendous mismatch of everything.
It feels like it's shot like a music video.
Worst is the final action scene.
One good cinematic take followed by b team camera.
Then another fantastic cinematic action shot followed by b camera team. Edited out of pace.
Disgusting to watch or pay attention.

Acting decent for Lawrence and Smith and the guy from the matrix. Even Michael Bay cameo was decently stupid. I don't recall 1 and 2 being this awful.

2/10
Quarter of a point for each actor that had to be present during filming.

Dark Skies (2013) - 6.5/10

OK, pretty tense in parts, but usual 'aliens' story.

Escape from New York (Remaster - UHD 4K) - 8/10

Good old Snake Plissken in 4K, lol, oldie, and showing signs of age now, but still good.

The Boat - Agree 6.5/10, Well made for two guys writing, directing and acting. One of those movies where the character constantly does stupid things that frustrate, it was entertaining for what it was, the ending could have been better.

Budget:$5,000,000 (estimated)

Dark Encounter - 6.5/10

Low budget abduction film with some nice actors who did the best they could with the tiny script. Kudos for the last half hour!

The McPherson Tape - Laughing /10

I guess it had its potential before anyone knew it was a mockumentary... nice suits! Laughing

Erm, this did not release to theaters in almost nowhere so of course people didn't see it. It's up to home video to make money.

Color out of Space - 4,5 alpacas/10

Too blatant to generate genuine tension, too ludicrous to provide some suspension of disbelief, too simplistic to allow for an analysis of its contents, it's a movie that reflects the dark side of the Cage. He was actually competent here (as much as he can be when shit hits the fan: always his forte) but, alas, the writing didn't have anywhere near as much depth as I hoped and the transition from calm tone to the expected crazy one felt awkwardly amateurish, then the Far Cry New Dawn-inspired art direction did the rest.

Little Monsters - 6/10
A competent zombie movie. Maybe the score would be higher if the main character wasn't such an asshole. It's a little unpolished gem in all the shit field of horror movies.

Just tried watching the 1st episode of Black Mirror (National Anthem), got 8 minutes in and turned it off, the acting is bad and the premise unrealistic and not convincing. It gives off this british vibe, too, which I don't like on this case. Is it the overacting, is it the accents which sound too theatrical to me? I don't like the modern british culture in general.

I know this is a popular series and I am not being contrarian, I thought I would like it and got disappointed. Bandersnatch also was not worth the time/trouble/novelty. Which are the best 3 episodes of Black Mirror?

After I aborted it, I watched a couple of episodes of Life, Death and Robots, I liked them, especially the Aquila Rift one!!!

This is why I tell people to start from episode 2 of Black Mirror as episode 1 is a very polarising episode. It is tonally off and set in the modern era which makes it fit in with Smithereens from Season 5 and Shut Up and Dance from Season 3. By fit in I just mean that they are grounded and don't take discuss futuristic concepts.

@Freiwald: VGA is indeed talking about the pig episode.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

No. Is it the same kind of humour as Shaun of the Dead? I hated that, why does everyone seem to like that movie? Weird and boring parody/comedy. Also, Simon Pegg is an unfunny, talentless, blant fucker.

Sherlock was also mediocre in its first season and the first episode of the second season confirmed (to me) how absolutely retarded it was so I dropped it.

And then there was that highly reviewed british cop drama series where they shoot an innocent muslim holding a baby in a motel because the 9 in the door sign had unscrewed and looked like a 6. Then I was subjected to some of the worst acting by the very shocked protagonist, screeching by the wife and the baby, then the dirty cops casually deciding to hide what happened and a good little lecture by the wife about how she was disappointed in Britain and how she thought things would be different. All in the span of 15 minutes.

The only recent british show I liked was Caught on camera. But that just shows their degeneracy and dystopian society Laughing

I'll watch other episodes of Black Mirror.

Somehow couldn't get into Dead Set. Probably because of the 2000's trend of having obnoxious british characters in shows and movies.

But in similar vain you can watch

The first episode is probably the weakest of s01.

My favourite all-time BM episode is probably the 3rd one of season 1 (The Entire History of You).

Spaced is also a really great British show, from Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg, a few years before Shaun of the Dead. A must watch if you liked Shaun, otherwise, stay clear Very Happy

My favorite British show is probably still The Fast Show. Very British, you'd hate it Laughing
