Lucky? Combat is fucking broken. Dark souls and nioh is nothing when it comes to reaction requirement. You need to charge up to heal or attack, but then you get interrupted and killed. Not a fan of this system which is even more add than ffxv.

https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/final-fantasy-vii-remake

Metascore 88 atm, Open Critic 85.

Pretty good, I don't care about scores but was thinking maybe the later chapters will be rushed and drag the game down.

Anyway, as a tip, don't watch the new trailer from today, its spoilerish as fuck, I wish I didn't watch it.

Is this the one that was cut in chapters? Would that mean it'll be short?

Nah its 30+ hrs without sidequests, prolly close to 50 with. But ya, it's only the first chapter of the game.

But is it really? It's pretty dragged out by being a walking simulator and having dungeons being way too long. Also have you retrack those way too long dungeons for side quests etc.

This really being a 30 hours game sounds about right.

Ive played about 15 hours so far (I have work and other commitments lol) and currently working through the side quests in chapter 8. I heard there are 20 chapters in total but not sure if thats true. So far its fucking awesome and surpasses my expectations in many ways. I forgot how amazing the sound track was in this game and as I havent finished it since playing on PS1, I don't remember much of the story, which is a good thing! The characters are great and there are so many lol moments with the dialogue between them, especially Barret!

I think they've done a fantastic job remaking Final Fantasy VII, don't think it could have been any better and the years its taken have been worth the wait for sure in my opinion. Its a shame this is only half or possibly even a third of the full game but its been really well fleshed out expanded since this is only Midgar. I honestly was expecting all the environments to be city-based and there not to be any monster fights which I have fond memories of from the original but that turned out not to be the case as the slums have plenty!

Cant help but wonder how long the wait will be for the continuation and what do they call it? Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2? If so shouldn't this game have been called Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 1?

Thanks headshot, I'll buy it for the weekend. FF7 is probably the best jRPG I have played, so I don't want to ruin the memories with shit. I've read they're working on a release day patch.

Some reviews Very Happy

https://www.kotaku.co.uk/2020/04/06/final-fantasy-vii-remake-review

Quote:
Final Fantasy VII Remake is a glorious retelling of Final Fantasy VII’s story. It expands, tweaks, and fleshes out parts of the game that we’d previously never seen. It takes the first five hours of Final Fantasy VII – which make up about a tenth of the original game – and transforms them into a 40-hour extravaganza

https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2020/04/06/final-fantasy-vii-remake-review/

10/10

Quote:
Final Fantasy VII Remake is perfection. It breathes life into the cold steel of Midgar, adding weight and dimension to that which was once simply an introduction to a more grand adventure. It’s filled to the brim with reverent fan service that respects the source material while occasionally taking leave to subvert expectations. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most defining games of all time, and Square Enix’s modern-gen treatment of Midgar lives up to the legacy of the original in every way imaginable. The worst part is leaving us off on the cliffhanger we all knew was coming, waiting for the rest of their journey, but as much effort as clearly went into Midgar alone, it’s bound to be worth the wait.

Quote:
“The scale and detail of this partial remake is at times almost absurd. But this is a game full of beauty, intelligence and nostalgic power.”

“Regardless of your history with the original game, Final Fantasy VII Remake is an astounding achievement.”

You're still in the good part. Worse parts are towards the end.

All in all it is a good game, well, not the combat. I fucking hate the combat. If one character dies the whole rest of the fight will be a struggle for survival as the bosses basically always target the character you controll. Especially fun finally getting out thaymt heal and the boss rushes you and you lose mana, action point and fuckkng spell too.

Are there 20 chapters? If so after 15 hours I'm almost halfway through I'm guessing. I'm looking forward to some challenging battles! Upto now the game has been quite easy although I'm on an annoying sidequest with 3 monsters that put my party to sleep which is resulting in a number of failed attempts! I was thinking about leaving it until we've levelled up some more as I know optional quests and activities can be completed after the campaign but I'm stubborn will probably waste more time retrying Very Happy

One sidequest i didnt do since it didnt really tell me at all what to do. Thought i had to collect every single record in the game, but it's really just a few npc's giving some. But the quest didnt say that. Probably something for an upcoming patch..... I hope

Yep no wonder it's not """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""free""""""""""""""""""""""""""

EDIT : i actually prefer the "demo" theme one, the music is more relaxing and it's FF7 main "overworld" theme... which I prefer than Cloud's theme.

How do you actually get the theme from the demo? I had downloaded it, but where do I find the theme to download?
