Is it good? I recently started the game (am now at level 13 or so) and I'd consider restarting it if the enhanced edition is worth it Smile And would you rather play it with gamepad or mouse keyboard? Vanilla was totally ok with gamepad.

EE is fuckin great for another playthrough after you beat vanilla. I dare to say it's mandatory for every W3 fan Wink
Fights are much more demanding so it's easier to aim with m&kb but it's not necessary and I personally prefer gamepad.

I finished vanilla on death march and apparently got the "best" ending so I left it at that... but of course after the netflix series I decided to play it again Smile Does it also work fine with the expansions?

And I read that it is also recommended to play the EE also on the highest difficulty setting (apparently optimized for that?). W3 was initially quite tough on deathmarch, but as I can not even skip a single quest, I was quite OP close to the end. The last "challenging" enemy was the final boss of Heart of Stone Smile Damn... Witcher 3 kept getting better and better the more you progressed.

Slowly clearing that backlog, Trails of Cold Steel...should not be run back to back for the two main games and then Third acting as a bit of a extra chapter but the games were good for their age and XSeed did some pretty witty translation / self inserts from the desperate localization team. (Some of those chest messages later on get a bit of dark humor as the games go on.)

Mixed it in with some video walkthroughs of older console horror games from older From Software titles and a bit of Konami (Silent Hill.) and others.

After that a few classics like the Thief series which still holds up even if there's some flaws though then the newer attempts at the series add several new things...and more flaws unfortunately.

Currently trying to clear much of the pre-2010's games before jumping into the whole GAAS and next-gen experience again and it's ups and downs and all that.
Might step back a bit though for some classic dungeon delving with Wizardry and Might and Magic, sounds like the new Wizardry launch on Steam isn't one of the top picks for the revival effort but might hold up even so and then Elminage is more of a distillation of the formula though it can be a bit rough going into it without preparation. Very Happy

The Master List Database via Something Awful had some good console exclusive video walkthrough / Let's Play titles too for when taking a bit of a break and watching someone else do it, going through some of the best and worst led to some interesting discoveries like a recommendation for Treasure Island, CCCP edition when re-experiencing Vivisector. Razz

Yeah I guess nostalgia was a bit different than the game itself was. Video was quite a thing though.

In short I still find weird stuff. Very Happy

EDIT: On that note though plenty of the remaining newer JRPG's of sorts kinda qualify too ha ha.

Guess game design isn't as important as fan service in some cases.

Also while the Dark Engine might not have been a top challenger for visual fidelity the sound design is really excellent even now aside from perhaps some of the footstep volume balancing but that's probably more for gameplay reasons and not bothering the players with loud clunking every single time the character moves around especially the fun surfaces like the ever so lovely tile. Razz

EDIT: Though the character models and environments have some charm and detail to them texture and polygon fidelity aside.

They sure love their voice mixing too Shodan from System Shock sure but Karras is quite something or the overall ways the various groups or factions speak in general.

EDIT: Writing holds up as well but then these days it's all in the players face and over explained and simplified and you get some caricature obvious evil or cartoon type villain being over the top everything. (Sometimes it works other times well it doesn't work quite as well.)

Still a cult thing in countries of Ex-USSR. Unfortunately the top stuff can't be translated fully via subs.

Yeah I'd imagine you would have to be pretty fluent in the Russian language to get the proper experience since a lot of details can be tough to translate properly or get the meaning across without altering things too badly or completely changing things out which can also happen.

Not doing a great job trying to explain but finer details and nuances and how these would be changed when doing a translation as even careful high quality localization can see things altered or made different.

Eh basically losing some of it in the process I suppose to summarize it. Smile

EDIT: And nice to see the internet preserving things just as always, both good and bad ha ha.

This one does seem pretty classy though unlike some other (in)famous media used more for parody sure there's the cut-ins and warnings or what not but I'd say it looks pretty well made.

EDIT: Those little numbers do have a certain charm of their own though. Smile

Chrono trigger. What a gem.

If i could make one complaint its that party members on the back row stops existing. I'd use marle more, but she's too much of a single target healer and bosses use mostly aoe, which takes crono out for a round too for the aoe heal combo. Much better to just use robo instead, such a versitile character, but i feel it makes the story worse.

Yeah whatever Enix managed to do back then the team produced some really impressive results even avoiding many JRPG pitfalls like the dragged out grinding or padding plus the writing had some solid stuff too and overall balance and gameplay worked really well.

Heard Chrono Cross attempted to live up to the original but they stumbled a bit from my understanding and I don't think such a collaboration would be very easy these days plus the overall changes to production and budget and overall what's popular and sells.

Probably telling that fan backlash made Square-Enix actually revisit the from-mobile port to current systems and make several improvements too compared to earlier very mixed reception of Final Fantasy and some others.
(Although even with that I suspect something like a full remake wouldn't be able to deliver.)

Haven't done much posting here overall just reading and well mostly clearing the backlog far as gaming goes and with real life still trying to improve overall physical condition and some training hah well it's going alright unlike the endless backlog I suppose heh.

Division 2's cleared out now as one of the more recent titles started well but the patching and changes and ways that Massive prioritizes what to fix while not surprising (Stuff affecting them more than the players.) plus changes to the game with the latest large update and how it inevitably turns into a bit of a chore or endless grind for the type of game this is well it's good enough to consider cleared now. Very Happy

The world building and storytelling both for Washington D.C and New York in Warlords is quite impressive same as the first game though overall storytelling and stuff like the collectibles have really gone down.

Gameplay is now also funneled mostly into DPS because the devs either don't play their own game well enough or at all and the changes to loot 2.0 is more like a huge simplification even if it does at least somewhat reduce the RNG though this is also offset by a ton more drops that are just outright trash items again probably nothing surprising for a loot/shooter game that this in essence is trying to mimic.

Difficulty scaling and intent for the various difficulty levels and group play is also off with Massive themselves stating the higher levels are for maxed out builds but then players would have to run these to get their builds maxed out in the first place and above two players the "bloating" of hitpoints and armor for enemies gets absurd even for Division standards with millions of armor lasting all of a few seconds at best so anything but DPS either falls short or is simply ineffective at least for now or very specialized builds or situations.

Returning to New York in Warlords was fun though even if it's a separate area and I still miss the snowy setting from the original game, will be interesting to see how things go but I consider it done and it looks to be going into a seasonal event and rotating around various challenges and rewards requiring even more grinding and a lot of time investment so it was a good time to pack up though maybe if sales go better than expected they'll get some new content out but I assume the seasons are to be the finale and they'll be running these along with whatever patches they can get out and regular server side maintenance and fixes.

Server side really could do with a overhaul but that's a earlier design issue from the way the client/server side data works for this engine thus the various longer outages and downtimes and reliance on client patches for server side fixes that hopefully the next game from Massive if they're still going with online semi-MMO type designs will see to improve this but we'll see. Smile

Next up well clearing Ghost Recon Breakpoint would be nice but there's still a fair bit of older games in the backlog to wrap up.

Katanakami is out might be time for some traditional samurai fun through the two PC ports for Way of the Samurai 3 and Way of the Samurai 4 and many many paths of trial and error and failure.

Bushido, now also in cardboard form.

Vintage Story
been putting most of my hours into this, finally discovered an iron vein after living in the copper age for weeks, mined out most of the iron and built 30 brick bloomeries to work all of the iron only to find out our copper anvil isn't hard enough to work iron Laughing
so now the bloomeries are a permanent addition to the house we built Laughing i guess the moons are not aligned quite yet to get iron tools.

Mechwarrior 5
repetitive as hell, although i don't regret buying it. it's been pretty fun playing cooperatively, i just wish they had introduced a LITTLE more dynamic elements into their missions, and things like intel and a fixed extraction site etc so we could play more intelligently. i spent a little time digging into UE4 to modify missions but i lost enthusiasm after coding in shitty blueprints, although i did manage to add a secondary objective after much wrangling. the mission generator code looks prototype at best Laughing

Finished yesterday Generation Zero, at first hour or two in the game i was , meh.., boring, wtf with collecting stuff, i even uninstalled, then next day i said let's give it another chance, aaand i was sucked in, atmosphere in this game are amazing, graphics are rock solid on 4k, pure bliss. Gameplay rocks, you can dismantle robots how ever you want, 10 different ways to kill robots, spooky underground bases, counting ammo, nice list of weapons, upgrading weapons, skill tree. Before fight you must think twice does it pay off to go to fight or not, pure gem if you ignore little bad AI of enemies and inventory little fucked up. 9/10

Probably will sink some time into Avernum 3.

Remnant from time to time but can't decide if I suck so much in this game or can't bother to git gut.

But really looking for something that can be played from time to time and won't need me to remember what I was doing if post oned for a while.
