Funnily enough, despite usually NOT liking it when things are left unresolved... I kinda like how they didn't manage to go "yay! we cured the Freaker problem and saved the world! YAY!" it felt more real that they stopped the militia and now have the rest of the world to see to... later Opens up good sequel opportunities. |
Oh! And I actually *liked* that the developers decided to remove the choice/consequence system that was initially shown off. Normally removing stuff as integral as this would be outrageous but the decision to have a set character for Deacon really fits much better in the gameworld, rather than having a Deacon that flipflops from being Saint Gerard to Fallen Lucifer

I enjoyed the progression in the game, a lot. It was damn hard at first and some areas were a no go. I remember one camp up high on a hill where there was a horde below hiding in a cave. That one kicked my arse for a while.
And the first time with that horde in Chemlut
But in the end when i had completed it, I just run and gunned all of the hordes in one go

Yeah, there's been a metric shitton of patches released The most I've ever seen on a PS4 title to be honest, haha! And yes... a lot of areas really kicked my arse at the start, which makes near the end feel so much more rewarding!
Spoiler: |
Focus mode + an LMG with the penetration perk + some Enhanced Molotovs + Distractor Bomb = Whole lotta dead Freakers I kept imagining the gruesome-stroke-hilarious scene of Deacon riding into a camp and dumping a wet burlap sack of 800++ Freaker ears onto the bounty table.

http://thisgengaming.com/2020/01/28/days-gone-1-61-patch-massively-reduces-the-file-size-of-the-game-read-the-full-patch-notes/
Quote: | Sony Interactive Entertainment and Bend Studio have released the 1.61 patch for their open world zombie game Days Gone and it features a massive reduction to the file size of the game among other fixes.
Now the patch itself is a big one clocking in at around 30GB but the good thing is you’ll end up saving a lot of space once you get it downloaded. Before the patch the game was taking up around 61GB of space on my PlayStation 4. After the patch the game is only taking up 38.71GB of space so that’s over 20GB of space that this patch freed up. |
Download 30GB patch to reduce install by 20GB.
May the NFOrce be with you always.

I don't understand those who say you need several hours to get going.. its not accurate at all.
It has some good things going for it but characters and story wise, no. It's like its written by a teenager. I don't care too much though, i don't play games for story and the absolute cringe moments are actually quite far between..
The graphics and atmosphere is quite great, i enjoy exploring it, combat is ok. FPS on the bike is laughable though, in the lower 20 range, its so low its distracting, and i'm someone who's usually fine with a steady 30. The graphics are actually too good for a PS4 Pro. This should have been on PC and it would have been pretty great.

I've played for two hours and it seems like a good game. It looks pretty good and it's fun. Lots of black loading screens though.

Killed my first horde, was very fun, i died like 4 times before i manage to kill them all, and from what i read it's the easiest horde in game it's the:

Many hours later, i think i played about 60-70 hours, it's a shame there's no way to know how much i played, i seems in the late stages of the game..
Anyway.. my opinion on the game have completely changed,
I'm now having a blast! It's a rare game that i wasn't having fun at the beginning but later on i loved the game, was the same for me with Fallout 3.
After upgrading the bike and buying new weapons.. wow! I'm now destroying hordes
I love the story and characters are good, especially deek and

Skizoo is one SOB, i was sure they will save him for the sequel, but the fucker showed up exactly when the chopper came, still need to see hows it's end for him

I'm happy to end up loving it rather then enjoying a game at the beginning like Rage 2 and mid way to not even care.
So much Days Gone from loading

It's a very good game, I am really enjoying it, but there's mandatory loading for everything. I don't remember seeing a load screen this much in any game for a decade now. Hopefully they'll do it properly technically if a sequel comes since almost everything is well done.
Not liking the bruh atmosphere much, but I can live with it.

I have a PS4 pro. Does it have SSD? Loading is not very long, but there's just too much of it.

no its not standard, first thing i did was to throw out the hdd and replace it with a ssd.. i feel that a SSD is quite important for a console which doesnt have as much RAM for example as a PC.

so i have been tiptoeing around this game forever now. but seeing as we will probably never see another kexploit from that douchy "ps4 scene" i figured i might as well update and pick this up cheap.
skimming the comments here and there this appears to be a very much underrated game at least in the state it is nowadays post patch.
loading times still seem to be an issue it seems but i guess thats a given for open words on consoles.
what about performance overall? i only have a standard-ps4 .. is there a vast difference betw standard and PRO performance with the latest patches?
cheers

I really struggled with the super narrow FOV in the game, which I imagine is the same on both machines. It remains the only 3rd person game that gave me motion sickness due to how much rotating of the camera I had to do just to see anything. Normally only 1st person shooters that cause me to feel as nauseous as I did playing this one (and I don't play many of them for that very reason!)
If you don't suffer from that, it's a decent game and performance is fine, except for super long load times!

Performance is shit on PS4 Pro.. you notice it mostly when you're on the bike, its clearly less than 30 FPS's.. From experience i would say 22-25'ish.
It's not a particularly good game, it's like FarCry, you get tired rather quickly of it imo..

I also didn't notice any performance issues but i rarely do.
And loading isn't long but there's soooo many of them.
