This project deserves it's own thread:

What is Racer?
A free car simulation project, focusing on realism. It also focuses on supporting file formats that make it possible to add your own cars and tracks with relative ease (compared to commercial closed car sims).

Its cool that you opened a new topic Brisk but you did bad when you post those VERY old pics. Eliz, just admit you couldn't be bothered figuring out steering cause you only like games like BurnOut and shit like that, so stick to it. Wink Brisk, take the pics I posted back at the GTR2 thread and post'em here.

Cars that are made for this sim are usually higher quality than most stuff that goes to rFactor and such...trust me, I'm in the business for quite some time. SA as for San Andreas? You must be kidding, starting from the rule of low poly models who very small amount of modelers master.

If I should compare it to something I would say Gran Turismo 2 with better graphics. I was told that one of the features would "realistic handling". I'm sorry, but I don't think those guys have ever driven a Lamborgini or a Ferarri.

My point exactly. If you like it, fine. But don't go around flaming members for critisizing a game, whoose only strong point is that it's highly modable.

WTF how do you make this racer game anygood? where did you get them cars in the pics also where are good tracks?

the stock game comes with a total pos car and 1 track
the handling is rediculous it feels like you driving 20km/h all the time and the control is like your driving on ice and bananas when u try to turn at any speed other then crawling

Its a sim, its hard to get used to. Look here for the Corvette C6 and Swiss Stroll (track) http://forum.rscnet.org/forumdisplay.php?f=111 @ the New Car/Track sub-forums.

Go in the controls and hit 'mouse' and then map the clutch to 'X', the handbrake to 'Space' and 'S' for the 'Starter'.

Generic keys are:

C for track cameras.
F1 - removes the Timer display at upper left corner (press it a few times for total disable).
F2 enables the Replay mode, to exit it press ESC and then P to exit pause.
F4 enables an extra Mirror (only if enabled, it takes some FPS while so).
F5 enables TCS and ABS but its a bit dodgy, depends on the track somehow.
F6 enables the mini-map.
Shift+R - resets you to start line.
Shift+F - resets you to the last point you went off track.
Ctrl+F - removes the FPS display at the upper left corner.
Ctrl+V - removes the dials display.

P.S., also get yourself a copy of Forest Club (another track).

Just ignore the default car/track...unfortunately the developer almost never bother changing them and therefore it makes the opposite impression. Its old crap nobody use.

Playing this game makes me want to kill something. Since I would be quite reluctant to go to jail for something like that, I think it's going to be the game that I'm going to let sink quietly to its death.
