Several years ago we had an idea for an adventure story set in a post-apocalyptic world. During our brain storming sessions, we kept circling back to a particular story. It was pushed to the sidelines while the STASIS story blossomed. But now that we want to do something different outside the STASIS universe, and still create an experience that fits into our niche of point-and-click, isomeric adventure games.
Beautiful Desolation will push our game design and graphic production further, and it's a process that we want you to be a part of yet again.
We will have more information on the crowd-funding of BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION but until then, please visit the site, watch and share the video and enjoy these early screenshots.

This sounds good also (from one of the Bischoff brothers):

Basic gameplay is the same - but we have multiple characters that you'll control as well as a more open world that's accessible from a Fallout style world map - so the world is open to explore in any order and fashion you want. It's a lot less linear.
Every place has a history, a story. That's a theme we want to push forward with BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION. We want players to explore the world we've created, make new discoveries and uncover the history of all the exciting places you visit.
The Codex is Dr. Mark Leslie's field notebook that will grow each time a new animal, plant (or the like) crosses his path. It will then be updated with drawings, facts and other information about the find in front of you. The Codex will include Mark's field drawings, photographs, notes - and even voiced entries.
It may also help you learn the customs of different tribes and factions: Who are friends or foes? What foods they eat? What has happened to them in the epochs since the Penrose appeared?
Sometimes these will be world building, and at other times will offer up clues to help you on your way. All while uncovering the secrets of BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION's technology, from strange constructs that pierce the sky to small alien-looking medical implants.
The lore of our world is just waiting to be unearthed!
Glad that it got funded \o/
I have absolutely zero monies these days to invest in gaming, so all I can do is hope that other good folks can make it happen with their deeds. I can only offer developers my psychological support
Award-winning composer, Mick Gordon, will use his broad experience to tell Beautiful Desolation’s auditory story. We’re thrilled to have such a talent translate our ideas into a sound unique to this game universe.
To many he needs no introduction, as Mick has score titles such as DOOM, Wolfenstein: The New Order and Microsoft’s Killer Instinct reboot under his belt (we said award-winning, right?!); so every note and precisely placed chord will draw you in.
His use of both traditional and modern techniques, and sometimes unconventional musical pairings, matches Desolation’s tribalpunk clash of old and new.
Collaborating with an experienced and passionate artist, who considers the role of the game’s music as a translation of its environment, allows for us to the convey ideas, emotions and backstory for each track.
This way Mick fully appreciates and applies this from the outset to create his own musical vision.
We are aiming for an end of February launch (isn't that exciting?!), although this entirely depends on any show-stopping bugs that may pop up. Rest assured though, we've already had our internal testers complete the game - and are personally testing it to the limits in studio.
Beautiful Desolation is a labor of love. You can see this in the astonishing amount of carefully placed details that create this refreshingly unique world. The setting might not resonate with everybody. But if you are a genre enthusiast, it would be a shame if you don’t give this game a fair chance as you can’t go wrong for the price.
(This article is based on a press copy of the game provided by the developer.)
