Seed of Evil, the expansion to Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 30th, 2019! Yep, that's right Nintendo Switch-fans, that means the full game will also be released on Switch on July 30th.

Seed  of Evi l is an expansion to the award-winning tactical adventure game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden picking up where the original game ended and offering hours of more gameplay, new locations to visit, and a new leading character!

Continue the main story and explore many hours of all new content. Expand your team with the veteran stalker Big Khan the moose and get ready to defeat a new threat to Dux, Bormin, Selma and all the others.

In Seed of Evil you must solve the mystery of the powerful and ominous roots which have taken over the Ark. Discover huge new maps, battle new enemies, improve your mutations, get your hands on all new gear, defeat foes trying to take back lost ground and face off against a vicious new adversary.

To play Seed of Evil it is highly recommended to have finished the main story in Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, because of story spoilers and the level range of the new content.

Continue the main story
See what happens after the ending of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. Continue into a new future for Bormin, Dux, Pripp and all the others at the Ark. How will they deal with what they have learned?

New mutant: Big Khan
You can now add Big Kahn the moose to your squad of mutants. He is a veteran stalker who has been exploring the Zone alone. He is not only skilled at doing critical hits but also has the unique mutations Ground Pound and Flame Puke, which make him excellent at dealing with groups of enemies.

Face a new threat
The Ark has suddenly become enveloped in mysterious roots and many of its inhabitants do not seem to be their normal selves. Even the Zone Ghouls appear to have been taken over by this new menace and it is up to your team of stalkers to set things right!

Hours of new content
Take on new enemies in places like the Hall of Electric Coffins and Mausoleum of Suburbia. The new story in Seed of Evil offers a host of new challenges and brutal fights. Get ready to rethink your tactics as you face off against brand new enemies.

Improve your mutations
Upgrade Bormin’s Hog Rush to Bear Smash for increased power and Corpse Eater to Corpse Feaster so that regaining lost HP no longer costs an action. Upgrade Dux’s Moth Wings to Wings of the Sniper which removes all range penalties.

Retake lost territory
Revisit places like the Spear of Heavens or Sea Titans as Zone Ghouls and police bots once again encroach upon places you have already cleared. This time they are stronger than ever!

Yup, and it seems like we won't be getting any more MYZ since they've moved onto a new IP Sad

I have the feeling that the Mutant Year Zero license expired. From what i recall, the board game and everything related was bought by Paradox, so Paradox might have different plans now when they know there is interest in videogames based on the Mutant universe.

Just completed this game and it's a very mixed bag. I would give it 6/10 just because I DID finish it (albeit by cheating).

Pro:
- setting
- graphics
- love the character design
- great Wasteland-like background
- I like some of the combat mechanics like the two-action aspect

Con:
- wonky framerate - even on my 1070 Ti, the fog really makes my FPS go up and down and even at 45fps the game feels sluggish.

- UI is a mess and buggy - my characters sometimes move when I try to click on a button

- There's way too little loot in this game - you find maybe 15-20 weapons in the entire game and you have to split this over 5 characters - really? Same with armor, helmets, etc. I looted everything and still barely was able to equip 3 people so it was impossible to switch between team mates according to the situation

- the skill system just doesn't work - requiring X amount of kills instead of a cool down takes away a lot of the tactical value

- Balance is all over the place - the middle of the game is brutal. Your weapons are pretty shit at that point and you have to pick off an enemy at a time to avoid the entire map coming onto you. It sucks.

What I did to make the game fun, was to not use stealth and to give myself endless healing. It was still challenging because you can only heal 4 points at a time but it allowed you to take on half a dozen or more enemies at once and made the game way more fun.

It's an okay game. I really liked the aesthetic and the setting. I couldn't finish it though, because I found it very repetitive, especially the tactical side of the encounters. Maybe it's more fun if you try min-maxing.

The recent resurgence of turn-based XCOM-esque titles reminded me that I still had the isomutant sitting in a corner waiting to be finished, and it being the only one with a tone that didn't put me off made the decision easier (yes Chimera, Anime thing and Gears, I'm looking at you). For all the limitations that the game has, the result was considerably more interesting than I expected Everything Went Better Than Expected

The linear progression and the lack of the usual strategical map in this case actually classified as positives for me, I just enjoyed the chore-free 10ish hour-long story-focused ride with its unique characters, competent writing and solid visuals/atmosphere. The enemy variety in general is objectively on the flaccid side, but there's enough depth to sustain the whole structure before it collapses on itself, and mastering the stealthy approach definitely is a must in order to avoid frustrating scenarios. I played it on Normal and found it to be the sweet spot, challenging enough without turning into a trial-and-error circus. A nice little gem in my book, hoping to see a sequel despite the post-apocasweeneyptic future.
