There are 3 options when you select he order stuff:
1st one is the main quests
2nd is the side content
3rd side content but with bots. (like black flag's ship fleet management)
But playing side content stuff is only for:
achivements
raising "star" relationship with the location you deliver to (which will unlock gadget/coloring option after filling each star)
Storywise the side deliveries will always net you a : thanks for delivering you are cool. cutscene, nothing more.
Also there are areas that you won't encounter during the main quest, so those are not connected to the network.
(You can continue playing after finishing the story)

The junk dealer quest was the first option, a SAM quest, so I expected more form it. I don't really like the story up until now, not much is explained but I hope it'll improve later. At the moment it's basically "go there and connect them to the network - the end".
Bots are indeed useless since the package is almost 80%+ damaged even in areas with roads

Everything will be explained, most of it at the last moment.
Just don't expect any twists or big revelations, most of the stuff is really easy to guess if you think about it.

I don't think any other deliveries has any story behind it, being this one the only exception that has.
About those roads can the community actually build the roads in your world? I have a feeling they wont. Maybe request materials only?
Although route from port city to distribution center was almost paved, 2 links were missing with half of the resources and i paved to the end now trying to restore from distro to farm, but those are empty and require shitload of meterials. Even full truck with stuff stolen from mules camp is not enough.
Also will there be roads in first region? I don't see material dump stations there.

this is how I think it works:
you're in a group with people when online. when people in your group add resources to a road, your road will get a part of those resources.
the hard to make roads that take a lot of resources get built slower because people are less likely to put resources in them as it's a waste until they're done. everyone prefers the low hanging fruit.
roads won't update all the time. you'll want to perhaps quit the game once in a while (don't use rest mode) and restart to allow it to update road resources.
as for getting resources for roads, use those resource transport missions, (you can also send bots for the smaller ones), for the distribution centers and such to get more resources, then take those out and bring em over.
in lake knot you have that recurring one where you get resources from the port where you originally arrived in area 2 and the city gets a lot of resources from that.
I heard you get more of these missions when the cities/distro centers have fewer resources so make sure you regularly withdraw metals and ceramics and stuff and put em in your private locker.
that way you can also be sure any resource transport missions won't overflow and waste resources.

I think i fucked up. About pizza delivery mission.
Spoiler:
Can you actually complete it if you did only 2 deliveries before you complete Chapter 9? Just did the third one (i had the email beforehand) and when i found out who he was in his bunker.... Really hope i can complete it now.

Colour me astonished. 505 just confirmed that it will be released simultaneously on Epic/Steam -- I'm guessing Tim couldn't offer enough of a b̶r̶i̶b̶e̶ exclusivity contract to prevent it
Aha!! I didn't see that initial announcement, cool! It's good to have double confirmation ... and it still seems very strange why a publisher would go exclusive on one store with one game, but not another.

I think with Control it was reported that Remedy actually needed Tim's money to finish the game, that's why they agreed to the exclusivity. They received around 10 mln, 55% of which went to 505
Since the Control announcement, 505 also published Bloodstained and Indisivible which were available on Steam since day one, so I don't really know what is their stance on the store exclusivity.
I think that's likely because both of those were Kickstarter titles, and - unlike the Ys Net or Julian Gollop scumbags - they didn't want to anger those that actually funded the games? Who knows? You can never tell with publishers
Yeah, you are probably right since I saw right now that 505 are the publishers of Journey To The Savage Planet which is the latest Epic exclusive.
Honestly, yeah I'm still a little bit pissed off at the morons from Ys Net and the whole Shenmue 3 fiasco. Thankfully I've got my refund from Kickstarter for it.
Big devs can make big demands. No doubt a steam release was stipulated by Kojima Productions in the Death Stranding publishing contract with 505 games.
Slightly OT, but forgive me if I ask what is/was the Shenmue 3 fiasco about?
Well, the whole thing really started when they announced the Shenmue III Kickstarter in 2015. I was a huge fan of the series and remember spending countless hours playing them back when I was a kid, so I did my part and supported the project. Back then it was advertised as PC game only with a Steam key on release. (Later during one of the E3's they also announced that they have received further funding from Sony and the game was also coming for PS4 as well). The game shows up on Steam with add to wishlist option back in 2018, around the time when Epic Games started doing their thing. Out of nowhere during the PC Gaming Show at E3 last year it was announced that Shenmue III is going to be an Epic Games exclusive with the backers not receiving a Steam key, but a key for the Epic store. This caused public outrage cause they took all the Kickstarter money (around 7 mln $) and then broke their promise and took some more from Epic. On top of that I don't even have an Epic store account, so i was kinda f'd at this point. They said that they are not going to offer refunds at first and tried to give me a PS4 key in exchange, but after all the articles and the bad PR they decided to issue refunds that were paid by Epic Games .
Right now, I don't even know if I'm gonna try the game when it comes to Steam...

What a shit show Yeah I can see the sentiment. Too bad for them, they embraced the new liberal market ethos.
Thanks for your reply!
505 Games and Kojima Productions are thrilled to announce that DEATH STRANDING will launch simultaneously on the Epic Games Store and Steam on June 2, 2020.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
