Simplest story movies that are executed exceptionally well are well worth it. Same with 1917. It is s a simple story and its fantastic. Same with this. Very simple story. Executed remarkably well. Acting though, as good as it is, voices don't match the characters in my opinion. They stand out for being known and tickle the ear, but could have been casted better. In my opinion. Except for the teacher. Her voice suited the character.

1917 - 8/10

Very well done film with some expected and more unexpected moments. The background score really matched the scenes and did help in amplifying the tension. A guy sitting next to me was biting his fingers during the night scene Laughing

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Watched contagion last night because I never saw it.
7/10. Typical sodebergh movie. Without Matt Damon it would have been a much better movie. Served no purpose but to show panic. Movie did that itself.

Watching Midway (2019) for 20 minutes and what a shit movie. Reminds me a lot of those ruski action/scifi movies: Shit CGI, Blue filter and bloom, shit dialogue and acting. I feel sorry for anyone who saw this in the theatre. Bottom of the barrel shit for the dumb dumbs/investors I guess.

Doctor Sleep Director's Cut - 6.5/10

I feel very conflicted about this. This could have been a great film if not for some very strange script decisions. The big bad band was barely scary and the new kid was OP. Not once did I feel like she was in danger. The revisit to a certain location just felt like unnecessary fan service and poor Dan got the short end of the stick due to the writer wanting to over-zealously reconcile this film with The Shining.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Thanks for recommending Snowpiercer, Leo. Watched it yesterday and enjoyed it. Nice society they got there, makes you think what really is unthinkable in a world like that.
I got the vibes it is based on a novel and wasn't very wrong (it is a visual novel). However the visual novel is supposed to be worse in terms of story :/ It's usually the other way around Laughing

I think the movie is a strong 8/10 from me, but i'm a biased sucka for post-apo so a grain of salt is recommended.

Anyway, thanks again Leo

Jojo Rabbit 8/10

Good but it was more sad drama than comedy, despite the trailers - they pretty much used all the comedic scenes for trailers.

It was a perfect balance Imo.
The funny mixed with the sad.
Then extreme sad to continue throughout with funny thrown in to keep the sad at a steady level without sinking deeper.

Just finished the Vietnam War documentary, it was very good, I recommend it. Just be advised that it is a huge time investment, of the 10 episodes most are near 2 hours. Also, it invests hours into the situation in the US. Meaning the political situation, the riots, the anti-war movement, the elections ...

It has some excellent first hand accounts and a ton of war footage. Also, I found the White House tape segments interesting. For example, you will hear Nixon talking with Kissinger about how to time the US withdraw to avoid the S.Vietnamese collapse coming too early (before the US elections). Heh Laughing Also, Watergate related discussions where Nixon orders a building to be burglarised and a safe cracked.

Cheers. I haven't read the novel, but I've heard it's substantially different in story and tone. I think it served as an inspiration for the premise and the general plot setting, but the movie seems far superior.

I didn't like the first half. They should have turned it into a pure drama without stupid "comedic" elements.
