used to be an avid fan, but the first ep of the new season i couldn't stomach. it got far too awkward too quick. it's like peep show, only 10x more awkward.
Watched two episoses of the first season and just didn't find it funny at all.
Maybe I'm just not getting the jokes or the humor of the show but no, not a single laugh or giggle or even smile was given that day.
And to be honest I can't see what people see in this show.
Someone please explain to me why it's supposed to be funny?

Seinfeld at least had a few funny moments or, hell, even a few funny episodes but everytime I find this running while switching channels... there's just nothing funny in it. I don't get it.

To be fair, I hate Seinfeld too. Curb is so much better.
The first season is kind of weak, I guess (it has its funny moments - some context is missing which makes it funnier, but...). I actually watched the fourth season first.

This is the appeal. The main character is somewhat devoid of social common sense, though I end up agreeing with him in most situations. That's the shows "gimmick". The scenes aren't scripted, it's mostly improvised.
no i know. but the other seasons the awkwardness was tolerable. and it was funny. him telling a girl who had her first period how to apply a tampon... not funny. it was just arrrgh lol
Yeah, I was just *attempting* to explain it to the others.
Haven't seen the episode yet, I usually wait until the season is over.
Edit: Just seen it. It was good, a bit short and not as rounded as other episodes (that's another thing I like about the show, how everything in the episode ties in together in good fashion). I loved the non-PC stuff about the Swede and the Jew lawyer (again, another good thing about the show). I was cringing, laughing.
I hate Seinfeld, can't find what people find so funny about it, Jerry is such a total douche, can't stand him and especially not his voice..
Curb is great, it did took me a while to get Larry and the humor though, but i'm glad i didnt give up.
S8 is amazing so far, the writing must be one of the best ever in a comedy show, how he binds it all together at the end is always a treat to watch. Some episodes and / or scenes feels really improvised too, love that.
While I do appreciate the comedy, I can't watch cringe-comedy for too long. Same with movies such as Meet the Fockers - too much cringe just makes me zap away. Seinfeld had a lot less of it compared to CYE which revolves nearly entire around cringe-comedy.
First episode was pretty damn great! He managed to pack in a lot of the classic series jokes into it!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
