it actually doesn't look like bump maps / normals are applied at all.
But it looks very dated, it could be because it's pre-alpha and they're just setting up stuff, "final" lighting and shaders aren't even in use because its still being worked on, its just the basic stuff being used.
But my guess is a no, its fake, the models are too simplistic..

I m skeptical. Look what they did with Breaking Point.
Whenever something worked for Ubisoft, they're trying to push it to 300%, GAAS and MX.

I dunno. Odyssey is just not really that good of a game. I loved Origins and it's rare for me to hunt down everything, and i did that. Odyssey though... It's clear they've taken some inspiration with its combat from dark souls as it feels very similar, yet not really the same, and also a lot worse. The voice acting is atrocious. I dunno what happened between origins and this, but it's nothing good. Otherwise it has a somewhat interesting story and premise, and the world is beautiful. I'll continue playing and see what i end up thinking in 10 or 15 hours

Sadly i really hate Origins, and i bought the gold edition for 50 bucks just for the egypt setting, the combat is just so awful, i mean i played and enjoyed games with so-so combat systems like ELEX but Origins is another level for me, just can't play it, biggest waste of money ever.

Meh I hated them skill trees everywhere, barely any story and bland open world. These are odyssey and origins
Cant say that syndicate was a masterpiece but at least it wasn’t as boring as these.
Lucky for you you are one of these people that prefer these new AC games. I would have hoped they would fail because I hate this new formula |
The last two are terrible indeed. Shit grindfests.

Well Odyssey is the bigger culprit where grinding is concerned, with it's microtransactions and likely artificial slowed down leveling to make you purchase it.

Origin had that shit too. Leveled armors, leveled weapons, tiers, etc.

Exactly my point. I know most people were criticizing old AC games for its repetitive gameplay but at least there was not that much grinding (unless you were chasing for feathers and what not), and the sense of progression was more rewarding. Even AC1 system that rewards you a new ability/weapon was better IMO than this grinding shit.
Again, not saying previous AC games were master pieces but honestly I had much more fun playing Ass Creed Unity and Syndicate than these 2. I also thought the gameplay was better in these, for some reason the character plays weirdly in Ass Creed Origins and Odyssey, and combat / running / climbing doesnt feel smooth at all.
Quite ironic for such a game series that main streamed parkour with Mirror's Edge.

No, i mean the 50% xp and gold boost you can buy for real money. And of course the resources for upgrades you can buy with real money too.

Not weird. Unity got bashed because of its bugs, specially on PC and XBONE. It got patched later on and played better. PS4 version also was subpar 20 fps but I didn't get big bugs and it was enjoyable.
The game itself was nice, ahead of its time graphically (it still looks amazing, dat Paris, dat Notre Dame) and gameplay is really smooth. I also liked the story.

The AssCreed games sadly are for me one of the biggest missed opportunities in gaming. They offer such fascinating settings where artists actually bother to do proper research and design beautiful worlds, yet they always end up falling short because of some sort of Ubisoftitis.
The new formula improved aspects that the old one did poorly, but at the same time, it (d)evolved in a way that completely destroyed the aspects that worked in the past by changing the franchise's identity. Right now it's a blingbling-based lootiescat in pace hybrid designed to overload the player's OCD and keep him busy for as long as possible while offering nothing in return like a baguette-shaped horsehair worm.

IMO just cutting out all of the modern day nonsense would greatly help the series... really really immersion breaking for me. But they won't so *shrug* *pass*

Hmm, thought most complaints were for the technical issues the game had, and it had a lot if my memory isn't failing too much. Most of that were fixed i think

Origins was the first since Blackflag that I finished AND enjoyed. Have neither finished or enjoyed anything in between or since.
Origins I played like 2 years after release, so it was all patched + adequate hardware.
There was never a moment where it felt like a grind. I was usually ahead of levels and sure was glad for the "enemy scale to your level" option. Otherwise, I would have out levelled anything from the getgo and then the game becomes trivial at best. But with the scaling, it was fine.
I liked the removal of the "gather it all OCD" style gameplay from the previous titles and the combat felt fresh and a lot better than the old "Batman-style even tho AC did it first I guess, you know, click A to counter whatever..."
Sure never felt like I was missing an XP booster or something.
Odyssey I only played a "couple minutes" and already I had a deja vu to parts of Origins. Same scenario, same kind of weapons, enemies, landscape etc.
And for the Viking setting, I like it, but I can't really see an Assassin's Creed game taking place in that scenario...
I mean, AC1 and the templar are already kind of Normans, i.e. descendants of Vikings, so how big of a stretch is there left? Except there is nowhere in Scandinavia, where I could see this taking place, which leaves either England and the Danelaw OR maybe and please let this be the case, it's more eastern, I.e. the voyages to Constantinople and even Baghdad. Or the Rus etc.
But please, let it not be England, I already died like twice, just by trying to play Total War ToB, lol.

I dont like scaling as it makes gearing and leveling redundant. At best yoi'll keep up if you're lucky, at worst it becomes a slog if the last good weapon you got was 10 levels ago

Gear doesn't mean much really in Origins, as long as you are "up to level" more or less.
It is however boring as hell, to fight against enemies 10 levels below your level.
Actually, your statement is wrong.
If you fight enemies who are "at least your level" (or higher, they don't scale downwards!) you NEED up to date gear to fight them.
Without scaling, you pretty much end up fighting only enemies 10 levels below you and very quickly (just do most the side quest and you out level content in no time) and for that, ANY gear does the job.

Hammer time?
Well that's an old one, time to go PC Viking...politically correct non-political (Ubi-Politics.) trading and dealing with the British, monks for everybody!
Lore and such also allows for the usual dual choice between male and female bit more so than Odyssey though Kassandra wasn't bad or anything.
Well the dude next to the image seem to be liking it, bit too much, nipple rubbing and all.
Huh wonder what they're throwing into this one, ridable Thor's goat with XL sized mead horn buff drink-to-win and impossibly high strength hammer weapon (Belt of stronk sold separately.) or something like that.
Myths and lore fragmented as it is should also allow for some interesting weapons and armor and fun encounters in between friendly church visits and trading and crazy British natives.
(Picts, Romans or whatever is on the island of rain and fog and why the fuck did we stop here again?)
EDIT: Wonder if they're going full Opera and we're getting horny helmets and all.
Will be fun to see the marketing promo trailer even if it's just a teaser and what Ubisoft has planned for this.
Not sure about historical figures either since the fragmented and often oral story telling kinda leaves lots of holes in many of the records and also the myths and sagas though there might be some stuff to use.
Now is it a Swedish viking, Norwegian viking or a Danish viking.
Danes were pretty crazy but then they kinda had to be, lack of resources meant "trading" (pillaging) and for their size they sure put up a fight and took quite some territory.
(Much as Germany is popular as ever the beer's kinda held up so I guess they had their good sides too whenever Sweden and Denmark wasn't racking up the most-wars-in-history counter even against the rest of Europe, combined.)
EDIT: And Ubisoft's probably going to go full heroic build again. Ha ha.
