Guess it's the same with HFR, that didn't take off either. But the few fans it has say they don't want to get back ever.
I watched some 3D movies both active and passive and I enjoy passive but for me active puts too much strain on the eyes.
Joker will pass $1 billion worldwide today, on the second anniversary of the overseas release of Justice League.
As it enters its seventh weekend, Joker has a new domestic total of $316.692 million and a global cume of around $998 million worldwide. So today should be the day that Joker passes the $1 billion mark. The $62.5 million-budgeted DC Films flick crosses the $1 billion mark in raw global grosses.
I bet this will result in several interesting scripts being developed into movies. You don't need men and women in tights and over the top VFX to rake in the money. You can do it with a fraction of the budget AND you don't need PG-13.

More likely they will announce a bunch of movies slated for 2021+ release dates and then start looking for people to write them. Any old shit will do as long as it's cheap, edgy (kinda) and they can put "from the makers of Joker" on the poster.

The big success of the cheap, R-rated, Deadpool (about the same budget as Joker, if not cheaper) led to green-lighting of a mid-budget R-rated Logan, which was also a success.
But Marvel and DC continued to churn out big, expensive, PG-13 films, and Fox doubled the budget for Deadpool 2.
So don't count on it.

Most of all it will AGAIN prove that we don't need identity politics in movies. hopefully these Hollywood cucks who lives in a bubble and have lost connection to reality will get it, eventually.
New York Post, Rotten Tomatoes etc can try to gather negativity all they want to try to prove that we must have it, won't help, it's not what the public wants.
@vurt but have you seen sens8?
Identity politics are not a bad thing when it's done well and it's part of the plot/story/character development and not for points. Did we need the Russo brother be a gay victim in endgame? Nope. Did it achieve anything? Nope. Was it for progressive points. Yop.
Did we need a tranny in sense8? Nope. Was it needed for the story? Nope. Did it work? Yop. Was it just for progressive points? Nope. Did it achieve anything? Yop. Decent story telling and character arc.
Hollywood isn't wrong. Jurnos aren't wrong. We are evolving and becoming more accepting of cultures and people's identities. Does it suck when it shoved down our throats like the Oscar winning movie crash? It sure does cause its monotonous and tedious and shit. Is it pretty cool when it's executed pretty well for content, character development, for the laughs and the sads? It sure does. Mr. Garissions brand new vagina was a great story arch. Sense8 was a great show. Atlanta is great. Marvelous ms. Maisel is great. Broad city was hella funny.
Like... Yes being deep throated by false morals sucks. But when it's genuine and good... Slobber that progressive cock up, boy.
Edit - also the "liberal" media went after it for clickbait at first and it turned into a witch hunt when Joaquin and Todd didn't agree with their bs and fought back. And then the blogosphere press thought it had power to cancel a movie people want to see. It failed. Simple.
It's one thing to build a movie around a great idea with interesting characters and something else to build it around current political ideas, pushing agendas, pointing fingers.
Obviously it's of very little interest to ANYONE what kind of sexual orientation or skin color a character has, as long as they are great and involving characters no one cares. We HAVE evolved to that and racism is mostly a thing of the past (to many peoples disappointment, especially the Left). "Toxic masculinity" - buzzword bullshit, for the most part it's about hating men in general, unfortunately feminism is about that too nowadays. It's interesting that these people seems to have learned nothing from how racism evolved - through directed hate towards a certain group.
It's really just common fucking sense that everyone understands except some people living in a bubble thinking they can turn series and movies into propaganda and believe that we will accept it. Even if the idea is awful, the characters are boring stereotypes etc. It's not exactly going unnoticed when they are doing it because the result is always shit.
But shows forcing an agenda don't last long.
Movies that push an ideology sort of bomb.
Only thing Hollywood sucks at right now... Is thinking a progressive script is automatically good.
The Joker sequel news that hit a trade today is great click bait, but multiple inside sources said that while a sequel to the billion-dollar-grossing film is an obvious likely eventuality that makes all the financial sense in the world, at this point there are no deals for a sequel, nor even any negotiations with director Todd Phillips or his co-writer Scott Silver to craft one.
Quote:
No one is saying a Joker sequel won’t happen someday. But multiple sources said nothing has happened yet and that Phillips and co-writer Scott Silver have made no real moves to draft the further dark rise of Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck character, or even to make a deal to do that.

That's a lot of nomination for this.
It ain't a bad movie. But it ain't this many nominations good. Wtf.
Yup. Holy carp.
Best actor. Of course. The rest is overblown.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Indeed, the majestic Joakerin was the one who managed to make an otherwise ordinary and rather banal movie feel poignant and special. The quality soundtrack and direction definitely contributed as well, but nothing would have worked without such a believably invested protagonist.
