I've read the review, and aparently it's a very basic FPS and not tactical at all. you go in, you rush, kill everyone, get out, that's about it. when restarting a mission the ennemies are also always in the same place which forces you to learn the level by heart and go for the "perfect" assault.
Still could be fun but i don't need much to be entertained with an FPS, i kind of like Combat 121 too (valuesoft, but it had a basic and fun multiplayer )

Did you play SWAT4? ennemies move around and you don't usually see them twice in the same place, there is a tactical aspect to swat, usually you rush you die, so i was kind of expecting that kind of game here and not some sort of counter strike with NPC teammates Smile
A game like that doesn't have to be all shoot to kill Smile, and when they state "realistic SAS missions" i would expect some more tactical aspects

Well i agree on that, but still the NPC's aint that bad. But a little buggy scripting maybe. Because they can handle some situations, but sometimes they just go around while their looking at the ground.

indeed, NPC's kind of fill up the screen, i love to throw my man head first in a room in swat 4 and enter last so i only have to clean up what they missed
at least in this one you're not some bruce willis wannabe who can take down a whole terrorrist organisation all by himself Smile

yep i did ,i always had to keep teammates behind me so they won't die,if u call that game realistic then u watched to0 many movies ,coz in real life u got shot u die or bleeding till medics arrive IF they arrive in time Rolling Eyes ,but i get it u just want to have more tactical moves, btw rushing in cs most of the time not goin well

I really want this game... i love tactical games and since rainbow six:letdown sucked ass.. i think The Regiment can help me cheer up.

Sure the graphics isent the best out there (same unreal engine build as SWAT4 though) but the gameplay and the fact that there is Co-op makes me drooling.

it might not be super realistic but it's still better than those shoot to kill games, somehow i doubt this game will be very realistic and i don't think it's going to be a one shot kill game either.
as for counter strikes there are 2 ways to play it, you either rush, or you camp, but on a public server you'll never have the same sensation as in swat where you have to cover each other's asses Smile counterstrike is more like teamdeathmatch, but that's my view and your probably have yours, let's not get off topic Smile

I dont play CS... never have, never will (tried it, sure..but not more), i play SWAT3, SWAT4 (longing for the expansion due 28th of feb), Ghost Recon and the expansions, Rainbow six series etc.. and they might not all be tactical slow games... but its the overall feeling im looking for, sure The Regiment dont have the tactical pre-planning like Rainbow six, they are more for rush in and rescue the hostages, and i dont see anything wroong with it... it can still be very fun.
SWAT 4 is awsome..although i hate the positioning of the weapons on screen, and the slow "zoom" mode, but everything is great about it..love the slow pace.. this is SWAT, they take it somewhat slower than maybe DELTA or S.A.S because when they are sent in...its usually a world wide thing like terrorism, politicians or a huge group of hostages... and swat is more on daily basis with criminals, bank robbery etc..

I love all these kinds of games (except Letdown wich destroyed the Rainbow six franchies with their Arcade shittynes and poor A.I) so im gonna buy The Regiment aswell... why, because i love these sort of FPS games!

Very Happy

wikipedia about SAS:
The Special Air Service (SAS) is the principal special forces organisation of the British Army. Formed in 1941 to conduct raids behind German lines in North Africa, with the Long Range Desert Group, it today serves as a model for similar units fielded by many other countries. The SAS is a small and secretive organisation, but attracts a disproportionate amount of media coverage. It forms part of the United Kingdom Special Forces, alongside the Special Boat Service (SBS) and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR). The SAS is widely regarded as one of the finest and best trained special forces units in the world.

so it's like covert ops and stuff like that? i seriously doubt they'd go in, kill everyone and get out Smile but this is completely off topic
game can be fun, i love to shoot whitout thinking, just think it's weird they call try to sell this as a very realistic game.
Anyone here who was in the SAS and could like give an idea of what it's really like?
