this thing is going to hold backups as well as media so i figured i'd let it run some tests before writing "critical" data on it
1. crystaldisk
2. h2testw (tool that writes every sector of the hdd with huge dummy files of differing sizes and then tries to read them all out)
3. (?) format the drive
i guess the first two steps are nobrainers but i am not sure about whether or not it makes sense to format the drive afterwards or like at all... i used to always format new drives but does it even make sense after procedure 1-2 bc that should've found any errors and probably more reliably so too, right? wrong?
