Liked you comparison to Warframe IamAWESOME, however... what you did not mention is that movement in Destiny is terribly slow and boring compared to Warframe. That's what hit me the most when I tried to get back into Destiny.
I even bought Destiny 2 when it came out, then after being really disappointed by it I started playing Warframe and had a blast for the entire past year. Now I'm also close to MR27 and have seen all the content, but I just can't get over how slow you are in other looter-shooters.
But good to hear people enjoy Destiny 2 now, I really should give it a try again.

The system can obviously flag your account if you do it like IamAWESOME suggests and don't use a VPN after you change the region and they also know about most popular vpns used by a lot of ppl cause they are easy to detect, i don't think they will ban you if don't go overboard though, the only ppl i heard of getting banned where mostly hardcore traders making a living by scamming and exploiting steam and they definitely deserved it but still don't do this on your main acc if you don't want to risk anything use alt accounts.

I wanted to ask if the game's worth playing when it comes to the story and if the weapons are that interesting when it comes to functions, levels?, etc etc..

I really didn't have issues with Steam and VPN and been using RU store for years. Been using Argentina/India/China back and forth without any issues.
You can change back to your region. Think it has 2 days/2 weeks cooldown.

The base game campaign is meh. Even free DLCs are meh and short. Forsaken is good. Shadowkeep is okay.
There are no rewards for doing the campaign. So it is pretty much just experience if you want to else you can skip it. It is walk in the park.
Guns are nice. Not Borderlands crazy but good. The exotics are great.
If your plan is to play campaign alone, then meh unless you got nothing else to do/play. The game is better outside of it.
Played it at launch and enjoyed it. Tried the Steam version - hated it. They gutted character leveling, set the starting power level to 750 instead of 0, implemented a shitty "new" introductory sequence. It feels like soulless Free-To-Play game now - can't get into it.

It was there for Forsaken too. 750 to 900 is not a grind. 900 is just a soft cap. It's the 900-950 that is a grind and you have weeklies to cover it. 950 to 960 is pinnacle which is a raid and 100k challenges + whatever event is active. Currently, Iron Banner PvP is active that gives 4-6 pinnacle gear.

But why would you ever change back to your previous region? It's so much cheaper in Uncle Diego region. Everything keeps working as-is, all you need to change is use Steam gift cards instead of paying through PP/CC (or you could sell some things on the market). There are nothing else that's worse than before.

So, just to clarify: If I change my store to Uncle Maradona/Rajesh/Rasputin or whatever, it's "ok" to log in and play without an active VPN from the said country?

They work fine. No reason to return at all. VPN only needed one time to update the store region. After that, you are good to go and use Steam normally but at a cheaper price.

Oh yeah, I've ended up figuring that out. But my pre-paid CC app has a section to buy gift cards and activate the code on steam so it's way easier, thanks though!
We have increased the Power granted by pinnacle rewards to +2 instead of +1.
Only four slots will be needed to increase your character’s average Power, at which point your powerful rewards will allow those slots that you might have missed to catch up.
Players should wait to earn their pinnacle rewards until this hotfix is available so they can take advantage of the +2 change.
Alongside the changes to pinnacle rewards, we’re also adding the Season Pass weapons (Pluperfect and Temporal Clause) as possible rewards from the Vex Offensive activity.
