What's the verdict?
I don't feel any of the promotional material. Women look like men, Gameplay looks like borderlands/fallout hybrid, humor looks like borderlands... Seems like borderlandsy Mass effect.
But on the other hand -would not hurt just to give it a try for 1 euro
sp only, expect bioshock examining (popup comes up whats inside the box), level up with like x amount of skills, perks (but they are just +50kg capacity, so low effort), small places, with almost nothing to explore (most of the buildings are barred up), dialogs where you can use some skills (although so far I had only like 4 times to use that, in a 2-3 hour playtime).
Melee and long range guns. Companion system, there are 6 companions.
Also quest wise the game "cheats". The devs decided to increase the number of quests by during a quest you get an additonal task and that task will have its seperate quest started, so when you hit up the journal you will have like 50 quests but its just 1-2 quests which got split.
And yeah thats about it. I don't think anything new will happen down the road in the game.
Sounds like it's not as focused as I would like... I guess I will play something else now and give this a try down the road

Its somewhat bugfree, although i had one encounter where the devs wasnt prepared for one occassion and while the quest didnt broke the dialog with the NPC was bullshit.
Also I have reached the second planet, at least its different from the previous, its also a bit taxing on the HW.
Also, why don't you download the "cracked" release and try it?
Been playing 8 hours so far and having a lot of fun. So many complainers in this topic ... but it's a solid game. Lots of exploring, decent combat, right amount of stats, well written dialogue, interesting quests, what the fuck more can you want you?
It's really a love child of Fallout and Mass Effect - Mass Effect for the setting, some of the combat, the companions, the ship and Fallout for the general FPS RPG aspect of things.
Nowhere comparable to F4 or even F3.
Story is weak, I don't care about chars.
What exactly do you remember of the story in those two games?

Problem must be the overall blur filter, though I don't get any side effects from it. Removing the post processing makes it look really bad as Sin said though.
The game gets better, just don't expect a AAA title. The RPG aspects are very well done, the rest is good enough. I particularly like the VA and dialogue is smart and funny.
Its definitely better than FO3 and 4 for me, not quite as good as New Vegas, but that one was by far the best 3D Fallout, so it's fine.
Writing is usual great Obsidian quality, on first look thanks to the art design I thought it would be Bordercraps memeshit, but thankfully it's not.
So far the game is meeting my expectations, a funky Falloutesque beast with Masseffectian influxes that doesn't really excel at anything in particular but is enjoyable to play and scratches the right itch
The retrofutusci-fi atmosphere works well, dialogues in general are competent and offer a good range of outcomes depending on your stats (unlike the silly Yes-Aye-Yup-*Nods* in F4llout). The characters aren't exactly memorable, but they're far better than our average Bethatons.
When it comes to the presentation and combat system though there's a sad trombone playing on the background: somehow I find the result less immersive than anything the pre-Failout76 Bryo has ever generated (especially after a good dose of ol' modding applied - a must). There's little feedback involved in the player's actions and movements feel almost disconnected from the world, with the jittery UE4 implementation here that doesn't really help either. As for the exploration, it's still there albeit it suffers the restricted scope and forgiving economy. It's not easy to overlook all the flaccid bits and compromises, but the solid role-playing elements are keeping me hooked.
Played this for 10h maybe and i enjoy it.
First map was kinda meh but it got better after. I liked that asteroid Sheyla (?) felt ME vibes
Lets just say that if you need that Mass Effect 1 or 2 medicine, this is it ( you ain't getting anything close in the near future ) at least for me.
You get companions (quests related ) - have special abilities
Upgrading Weapons/Armor is fun
Looting is fun
Leveling up is fun for you and companions.( You can't romance anyone from what i know )
Music is nice with space vibes.
Semi Open World which is more fun for me as i don't waste time around .
You get quick to locations that you need as it has fast travel and you move pretty quickly too even on foot.
Fast pace game.
Graphics are nice, they aren't Crysis lvl but neither Fortnite/Borederlands lvl

Game is kinda unstable here and the newer AMD drivers introduce some visual glitches but so far the game does have potential as a lower budget take on the RPG formula and what Obsidian did with KOTOR 2 or New Vegas though it doesn't reach either of these two and overall the writing is kinda lackluster and the mechanics kinda simplistic although some customization is possible via ini editing along with the usual UE4 things like die mouse smoothing, chromatic aberration and a bunch of other stuff.
I do like the concept of being able to kill just about anyone and there's probably some narrative branching and I suppose part of the jankiness and simplicity also comes from budget limitations even if they had a bit more time with development compared to EA and Bethesda/Beta-Shed pushing for a aggressive deadline.
Less Bioware type good, neutral, evil writing and dialogue choices would be neat but it might improve if the game can remain stable enough to let me get off the first planet and see the rest of the game whatever remains since people are completing it in 15 - 20 hours.
(Well with some exploration it's probably closer to the expected 40 and for full completion and thorough loot...steal...appropriation of heroic tax and collection of important items well it might take longer still. )
Companions might be fun too although the RPGCodex example of Pervy or what her name was (Not Pebee the blue Sexsari from Andromeda. ) wasn't very positive but then it's RPG Codex so yeah that's a thing too hah.
('K so the Oblivion one is actually worse in it's randomness I concede though this puts in some good effort but matching that mess is not very easy.)
EDIT: Well they also did Alpha Protocol but janky as it was that game was really good and could have been something special with a bit more polish and less publisher pressure.
(Bit a thing going here for Obsidian though their own development cycle and problems with parts such as QA also factor it, pen and paper until Pillars was it, hmm.)
Finished it - took me roughly 30 hours on Hard doing all the side-quests. Not sure where the hell people came up with double that as en estimated play time, as I played extremely slowly and felt I was very thorough (ended the game at level 30).
Without spoiling anything, I love the way Obsidian handled the ending. Basically, a series of narrated stills with wonderful music that tied up pretty much every loose end you could think of with regards to your impact on the world and your followers, but still left it open for a sequel (there better be one).
Another Obsidian classic in my book, easily 8, if not a solid 9, out of 10. Definitely look forward to replaying this in the future!

You mean Parvati? I think she's a well done character. She's like a teenage lesbian girl who escaped an isolated village and is overwhelmed by the immensity of the world.
The writing and charm is great, voiceacting is decent too. Everything else feels very hollow though.
Compared to Disco Elysium where everything feels thought out and like it fits, the gameplay in Outer Worlds feels like a slog to get through just to experience the writing.
It feels like things progress a bit too fast in Outer Worlds too, like just a few lines or a single quest is enough to make someone join your party.
I like that the companion quests amount to more than just "Go here and shoot some guys" though. Having others in your party when doing companion quests can make things pretty cringe too, like going drinking with Parvatti and having that reverend guy randomly throwing in some lines while you and Parvatti have a pretty private conversation.
Replayability would be having different people in your party I think, since even when you move through the world some of the banter they have between eachother is pretty funny.
What I like about the writing is that it feels genuine, and it makes fun of some common tropes that are common in games without making it too obvious.
Around 1h in and it's pretty good so far, though normal difficulty is a cakewalk so that's now changed to hard. How's the ammo loot situation in hard, do you find less ammo to loot?

Lol no i could kill ppl just by burying them under the ammo piles i amassed so far

Pretty easy on Hard too. It's maybe hard for two hours untill you get an assault rifle. I was thining of dropping companions, but they're too much fun. I wouldn't want very challenging combat with these mechanics anyway. There's just too much loot (meds, ammo etc.) to make it challenging.
Yes.. it would seem that bullets and energy rounds are as ubiquitous as water, or air...
I'll be honest, this feels like a great game (the narrative is, on the whole, excellent), wrapped up in dumb - specially re-designed for consoles. The simplified graphics, the obvious lack of proper PC support, the very simple gunplay - and the ridiculous anims for 'special moves'... all feels like the publisher thought 'hmm, this won't appeal to 16yr olds as much as we think.. better add some stuff that us people in suits think young people will want.
Shame really... I think they probably designed the game around the Switch, and thought 'that's good enough for all platforms.. who cares if it'sd a bit blurry with terrible textures... it runs well!' (apart from the black shadow that appears occasionally covering most of the screen in darkness...)
I like it though... it's better than most of the shite we've had this year.

Isn't she supposed to be an asexual lesbian or some shit? Which is why the Codex's panties are in a twist over it.
I'm not so keen on these complex labels. I guess she is asexual or something along those lines. I don't see this as a problem. The way she is written, her facial animations and the voicing make her adorable.

That's my plan, always play these games solo

I haven't played it, so I can only go on the snippets I have picked up from the various autistic screeds on the subject, but I gather she wants love but not any sort of physical relationship. The latter would presumably categorise her as "asexual" in modern parlance (which, as a former biologist, I find the co-opting of the term annoying). In my day, she would be medically classed as frigid, but that now has the more PC-friendly term "female sexual arousal disorder". But of course pointing out that she actually has a mental disorder rather than making "life choices" or some shit would trigger the other side of politics.
