I hope they've borrowed some of the stuff from NV and Tyranny where you could be anything you wanted to be, including the role of a vile chaotic bastard Very Happy

I mean it's a fallout 3/NV type RPG so that's kinda to be expected.
They have a VATs like system so that's enough for me.

Why should be "expected"? If they create first person combat, should this not be at least on par with the best ALREADY implemented solutions out there?!

Did these guys at Obsidian didn't play a proper immersive FPS game?! Prey, Dishonored, Metro, Amnesia, Penumbra, STALKER games...

The "floaty" first person movement (+console derp FOV) is a trademark of how disconnected they are with first person mechanics on PC. A camera attached to a moving 'object' doesn't mean a successful port into a 3D virtual world.

One would think that in 2020 the first person mechanics would have evolved fully: body-awareness, head-bob adjustment, self-shadowing, FOV options...

How are any of those like NV or FO3? VATS is an implementation of Turn based'ish combat in first person. I actually like it..

Why you do this ixi. You made me remember that Obsidian has yet to produce a sequel to Tyranny. Sad

1 and 2 are still amazing.

I hope so, but Tyranny was mostly the B team while their all stars focused on POE.

And yet POE was shit and Tyranny shat all over it despite being low budget.

Those games were an example of a proper first person implementation. Just clarifying this. Doesn't matter if it's a puzzle or RPG game. The immersion factor values equally in any situation.

Can't say I'm a fan of VATS. It's a far cry from the original system and it feels like it's only role is to empower the player while using some form of... adaptive legacy mechanic. It's also uni-directional and feels like a semi-cheat.

Depends on what you got your subscription for.

I jumped on that deal where you get half a year of premium for 5 bucks total or so

and i basically got it for Gears of war 5 (and Halo Reach for PC which I honestly expected to already had released by now)

So this is a nice surprise, and feels pretty free.

Depends how you got it. When they first announced the gamepass ultimate, I had gamepass and xbox live, it converted it to ultimate so now I have about 2 years worth of sub.

A few weeks ago when Gears 5 came out there were some workarounds in the US to get 1 month Xbox Live time with each Rockstar can from Walmart so I ended up maxing out my Xbox Live for the full 3 years and did the upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate for $1 so now I have Ultimate for 3 years for around $30 total including the year or so I had left on my Xbox Live that got converted.

I was surprised when I saw this game listed in the available game section and looking at the specs I thought it said 10 gigs which I was thought was small when it was just actually 10 megs for that pre-load icon. I do look forward to being able to play this at the end of the week but I have a feeling that the pirated version will probably be the way to go especially for mods as most of those Xbox titles on PC have no way to add mod support but maybe this will end up being one of the first to do so. I cannot even use my mouse software to detect the game exes for custom binds on the games like Gears 5 which is just annoying so I can see myself getting annoyed with this one if that holds true.

Posting this also made me check the Windows store for updates just now and it seems the Pre-Load is up, it's 37 gigs but it did not automatically start it for me, I had to force it to start.

Yes, Epic paid for delayed Steam release... and it's not exclusive either coz other stores have it. That is some dumbass decision right there lol

I'd say it shows exactly what that nerd's problem was: Steam. Not developers deserving more. He just wants to kick Steam in the balls all the time.

You'd think it isn't the smartest business decision to fund a person that's just spiteful. But eh, tencent is on the same level.

Honestly unsurprising scores. There was nothing in any of the videos I had seen that looked terrible and at minimum this was from the writing team of OG Fallout. At worst you were going to get a fun story with possibly OK combat.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
