I was thinking about staying somewhere during new years eve that would allow a nice view of the aurora borealis while allowing me to stay away from fireworks... Any place you can recommend that is easily reachable via car/plane and is reasonably priced? Thanks! Was just looking at some pics of Trondheim.. Looks very pretty ^_^

It's just for 3-4 days.

Reasonably priced and a Norwegian town in the same sentence doesn't compute. Trondheim is a nice city, but with all our automatic toll roads I don't think I would recommend driving. Unless its and electric car or you drive a motorbike (both can drive free on our roads, snowy conditions on a bike might be tricky tho Laughing ).

And knowing people who live in Trondheim; you are lucky if you get a great view of the aurora borealis in those days. But then again, you might be really lucky Wink

Fireworks for personal use is still legal in Norway, altho rockets are banned since 2008 because of all the eye damages. Sweden is banning them this year, so I wont be able to buy them there this year Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Find out here: https://www.fjellinjen.no/private/toll-calculator/

Depends on your route and car. You can of course drive on roads without these automatic toll cameras, but it often take a a lot longer, and those roads are pretty shitty.

The free times for electric cars on toll roads are long gone my friend.

Also costs are not that high if you stay away from eastern norway and big cities..
I used to drive through 8-10 daily to work, and it only cost me 150 euro/month.

I hate you.

Yeah, Norway isn't really a place you go for a vacation (unless you have deeeep pockets). From what I've heard lately the Norwegian economy is slowing down (if I believe what my mum tells me).
