AHHAAHHAAHHAHAAH
This game isn't Rebel Galaxy
THIS IS WING COMMANDER: PRIVATEER REMASTERED
from the cockpits, through the interface, the hangars, the mercenary/merchants guilds
the missions, the travel, the components (weapons/radar/power/shields/tracktor/..)
yes there are new things, but mostly this is a remaster
they blatantly copied most of the game
the hangar interface looks so bad, because it was copied over from a game that was running 640x480
edit: Rebel Galaxy Outlaw Update v1 04-CODEX

The 1.06 update is the important one - it fixes (supposedly) the complete shit mouse sensitivity implementation. Kinda wish CODEX had waited a day and done that one instead.

I think one of the most disappointing aspects is the lack of player ship diversity (and also equipment to a lesser extent). There's like 5 with a few reskins later on. Hoping for "mods will fix it".

From the videos I've seen, the game seems pretty hideous. Very (too) colorful ships for a Star Wars game. Perhaps it looks better when playing it...
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

I played Rebel Galaxy
the name and space sim is where the similarities end
as I said this is a remake of WC:Privateer
it's good, if you enjoyed the original game
but they could have made it much better
such a missed opportunity

As far as I know they have been straightforward about the game being arcade and controller oriented... don't understand that's now becoming whimpering material at release.
I'm totally for a wc / privateer series remake. So if that's what this is and it's fun count me in.

I tried to like it for a few hours, but it's just too slow, grindy and simple. Needs more depth and atmosphere.

Il_Padrino will like this. From the Rebel Galaxy subreddit:
Spoiler: | |
My latest gripe is that quests have no checkpoints. Nothing fucking worse than jumping through a bunch of systems to take a quest, having to jump through several more to get to the objective (like escort a bunch of freighters) then fail that due to some reason (e.g. get swarmed with waves of enemies who quickly blow up the freighters), and then have to go all the way back to the quest giver to re-initiate the quest from scratch. I'm not old school, I'm just old. I have no patience for that sort of drawn out bullshit.

Add lack of manual saving to the bullshit list.

A: Fuck this game, can't save whenever I want!
B: Fuck this game, too easy, because can save everywhere!
It's always either one in each game thread, lol.

Likewise. I was hoping this would be the game that could make me reconcile with the space action genre, but (similarly to the first one) it still has too many obsolete limitations to make me go giggity.
Its straightforward arcade nature rarely encourages exploration and the grind-like "progression" once again doesn't really help. The gaming loop that revolves around pressing the buttonawesome auto travel and paper-thin action through the molasse-powered control system sadly got old very fast for me. Not-so-Rebel/10

Not sure why I expected it to be bigger and more complex, at least price tag is on par with what you get. I'm not saying it's bad, it's good but could be much better.
Playing the old school difficulty and enjoying it so far. There are some unbalanced missions (even low risk ones) that you get annihilated in a matter of seconds but you always can abandon such mission and get another.
Got the freighter and game got a bit easier and less frustrating, the ship is much more resistant and packs quite a punch, surprisingly it's better in combat than the fighter IMHO.

it's got pretty much the same features of the original WC: Privateer
I didn't expect anything else, and am kind of enjoying it
still I feel like it could have been better

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw version v1.07 (August 16, 2019)
TECHNICAL:
*Launcher will now identify your primary monitor and indicate it, and for new players will default select it
*Fixed various issues with Fullscreen sometimes attempting to use incorrect monitor depending on desktop layout
INTERFACE:
*Keybind screen is now sorted by category! A few binds that weren’t set to exclusive now are.
*Fixed applying a joystick profile messing up invisible binds on buttons for mouseclick (buttons that didn’t respond to clicks afterward)
*Categories added to settings menu
*Reticle display is now the default mouse display for new players running the game for the first time.
*Fixed ‘undo’ sell text showing incorrect recovery price in commodity market
*Fix mission faction display not updating properly in on-station missionlog
*Can save keybindings in paint mode
CONTROLS:
*In Joystick mode, all controls (except those bound to axes, like throttles/stick) can be simultaneously used and mapped on keyboard, with nice carryover state if multiple are depressed and released at different times.
*Fixed issues with remapping menu navigation controls on KBM.
*Can now remap all pool controls. Go forth and play much 8-ball!
*Tons of little fixes for various overloaded keymapping collision situations.
GAMEPLAY:
*Fixed an issue where stations would pre-emptively re-populate goods on reload into station. Alas, no more cheesing cargo missions.
*Teleport away from hostiles on load if any are near, regardless of your damage state. No more unwinnable save states! We hope!
*Break out much farther from atmosphere in sublight mode. Please don’t drive into any more planets. It makes us sad.
*Knocking 8-ball off table should properly lose game
MISSION FIXES:
*If game is exited in Kasha Donar mission after she has been unflagged as invincible, reloading will reflag her as killable
*Ansel is properly unkillable in Durgan battle. Oops.
*Secondary Cops in Spider’s Web all properly flagged as ‘to kill’ to make it easy to find them if they wander away chasing butterflies or something during battle
*Fixed some complex issues to do with disabled leader/follow ship relationships in Warning Shot mission that…are extremely hard to describe. They’re fixed.
BALANCE:
*Enemy swarm launcher damage reduced 33%
*Enemy ImRec damage reduced 18%
*Dirty cops in Warning Shot have reduced onboard weaponry
*EMP Javelin now has a 40 projectile capacity vs 25
*EMP Javelin projectiles sped up 400mps for greater accuracy
*Reduced ambush frequency at jumpgates
MISC:
*Sonora ‘normal quality’ cockpit mesh doesn’t have an exterior missing texture. And it never did jedi hand wave

I'm surprised these prototype EGS devs aren't snagged up by EA and 2K. They seem a perfect fit.

Some comments are weird but the one starting at 1:05 is spot on, this dev has a problem with receiving feedback.
