Wtf, where is the launcher te edit graphics settings in the codex release.
Rebelgalaxyegs just launches the game in low res/windowed and you can't change it ingame, launcheregs launches epic. Anyone?

"In the game folder there is a launcher LauncherEGS.exe, make a shortcut to the desktop, in the properties of the shortcut, specify the launch parameter -Epicportal

To get this:
\Games\Rebel Galaxy Outlaw\LauncherEGS.exe" -EpicPortal"

I have not really followed much of the Epic scene releases, do they patch often like Steam and do the scene groups actually post the updates?

If it's released in the Epic Store it means there's no need for patches or updates. It's awesome as it is!

CODEX has been releasing updates for Outer Wilds. Rebel Galaxy should be similar.
I wouldn't hold my breath for regular patches for Denuvo protected games though.

It uses the usual CODEX installer, no need to install cancer.

Game is fucking difficult on Oldschool difficulty. I get shredded in seconds on some white missions if they all focus fire on me instead of the merchants/mercs.

It doesn't help that there's no way to reassign mouse x axis to roll instead of yaw - the only way that happens is if you hold down a modifier key. Basically, the same shitty controller centric mappings of the first one are back in force.

Only thing difficulty does is remove the I Win Buttons (auto match speed/keep on screen/aimbot). The game's problem is they kept the balancing of the original in terms of the amount of ships they send against you (many), while completely changing the flight mechanics (no more sailboats).

i always hate it when hostiles prioritize you over everything else in the game world.
been playing NMS and it's really prevalent there, it seems like a big war is happening until you shoot 1 guy and all of a sudden you are public enemy #1.. not that it is hard to obliterate everything but yeah.

although from your wording it sounds like it doesn't always happen which is ok in my books, although it doesn't make it any less frustrating Laughing

Rebel Galaxy is already up to v1.04. I'd expect Codex will probably wait a few days until it settles down before they bother releasing anything. Although if it's just the exe someone will probably upload them to Rin or the like.

They realy fucked up the mouse and keyboard controls.
"gamepad recommended", that's just disgusting. Gamepads are designed for couch gaming, mouse and keyboard is always superior.

well maybe if it was pvp, even then m/kb is replaced by real sticks usually.
i play elite dangerous with the controller and it's pretty good, afaik most of this game has aim assist anyway so you could probably control this shit with a trackball and still do alright Laughing

I'd say it's about 50/50 - when it does happen you either jump away or die within seconds. Literally volleys upon volleys of fire and missiles, heh. And in case anyone was wondering, out maneuvering missiles in this game isn't an option - you've got 1 flare on an 8/6/4 second recharge (depending on quality), or you turn to face them and shoot them. Otherwise, they don't really miss. When they hit, they hit hard.

A few hours in now and, unfortunately, just like the original you spend hours grinding the same crappy missions over and over 10 or 15 times till you can afford a not shit ship and upgrades. Rinse and repeat. And make sure you don't buy your next ship unless you have 100k credits extra to upgrade the power plant and everything else on it, otherwise you'll gimp yourself.

Another completely unforgivable sin is that they made the target information screen the same one as the multi-function display - so anytime something happens like you loot, merchant dies, etc. you lose your target information window while the MFD swaps over to the log window for a few seconds. Overall, GARBAGE fucking console UI that does NOT serve its purpose well at all.

sounds like it's not that fun/balanced on high difficulties.

You're joking ... So they released a space game - one of the pillars of pc gaming of old ... only on PC ... at least for the year 2019.

And they proceed to fuck up mouse and keyboard controls AND flight sticks ??!

Gamepad recommended? They really are some inept dudes, arent they ?

Just played a little bit and I think this will fit my need for a quick space flight game when I feel like just running a few missions and shooting some stuff. The setting and atmosphere do help a lot too as without the music and Firefly/Cowboy Bebop type vibe it might not all work as well.

I did not realize the studio was only 2 devs on the first game and now 5 for this one, it makes more sense with why they took that Epic payday as it means they can maybe hire another few devs and jump onto their next project soon. It will be hard to say if in a year, by the time this actually reaches Steam, if I will still be playing much but if it ends up in a Bundle or at a decent discount then I could see myself picking it up just to give the devs some support on a platform that is not Epic.

I tried the first as it was given away for free on Epic, but it's totally unplayable IMHO.

I preordered this one as it fairs much better, but it seems to be aimed at gamepads as there are features such as auto-aim and target pursuit, the UI in game is pretty silly (it's using only a small part of the screen and you should navigate with arrow keys rather than with mouse; there's a bunch of submenus you get thrown in and then you have to get out of), the flight controls are awkward and the control mapping is also pretty poorly done.

I also don't like how they weakened the weapons. Even with the higher rate of fire, there's a lot more shooting required to kill an enemy which doesn't combine well with awkward controls (if you play on higher difficulty without the auto-aim and target tracking, of course).

What a letdown, guess i expected too much.

The station part of the game reminds me, in a good way, of privateer, etc. GFX are OK.

The controls are a disaster. Forget about M&K which is totally useless. Even the "recommended" input method sucks ass.

The default mapping on the controller is so weird and unintuitive. The entire targeting/navigation concept is stupid.

Missed opportunity. Sad.
