Quote:
The Grandia series continues, with Gamearts developing and former rival Square Enix publishing. Grandia III takes the adventure to the skies, putting you in the role of Yuuki, a young man with dreams of flying his own plane. Early on in the game, he does just that and, with his youthful mother Miranda at his side, he comes into contact with a girl called Alpheena. The pseudo real-time Ultimate Action Battle system returns, complete with new aerial finishing moves.

Review:
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/687/687732p1.html

This is THE rpg on the ps2. It "only" got a 7.6 from ign, which is still a good score, but any fan of grandia will love it 'till death and will easily give it a 9.5-10. I played the jap version some and I could almost not stop myself, it was just tooooooo good. It's exactly like before so fans will not get dissapointed. Smile
Many would problary say that it's rather short, it's around 25-30h. But 25-30h is more than enough for me as long as it's 25-30h of enjoyment and I know this will be.

People might have seen my raving about slow battle systems in various rpg threads, play this game and you will understand what I mean by lightning fast battle system. Smile
This battle system crushers every other system easily, it's a joke how much better this system is compared to every other rpg, and the rest are not even bad, it's just that this is so unbelievable awesome.
And lastly, to all the haters of random encounters, this game have fully visible enemies. Smile

As you might have noticed, I'm REALLY looking forward to this game. Only 3 more days!! Very Happy
Here are some screens for the lazy. Razz

Great scenery!

The awesome battle system!

YAY for a REAL Worldmap!!! (Die FF with it's menu based worldmap!!)

although this is a great game, its still not the last good game on ps2, there are more coming up such as black, shadow hearts 3, mgs3 subsistence, suikoden 5 (?), okami, ff12 (?), and of course the great rogue galaxy.

Yeah Kuja, plenty of great games to come. And dont forget Eternal Mana 2. Smile
But when it comes to rpg, nothing can touch Grandia, it's just not possible. Smile
And this I know before I have even played the english version. I guess I know what to expect from gamearts, I like their style. Developers most often have a personal style, just like movie directors, so you most often know what to expect from a developer (unless they screw up).

I hate to read that there is another Grandia that is not on the Dreamcast or at least at the XBOX.

Is there a sign that it will be converted to XBOX or maybe GameCube?

No. The cube lacks enough rpg support among it's consumers to make it a good profit.
Tales of symphonia was released on the cube but it sold really bad even thought it's a fricking awesome game. :/
And xbox? You're joking right? Companies want to EARN money, not LOOSE money. Razz

The ps2 is the console with every rpg, and every rpg player knows this and therefor they have a ps2. So it's just not profitable to release an rpg on a console that isn't the ps2.

I will probably download the game too but i´ve also preordered it. Game Arts deserves the support since they are not greedy bastards like EA, they deserve the money so they can make more games like this one, the Grandia games are by far my favourite series (Except Extreme, i´ve tried to forget about that one).

Slightly off topic but

Drakengard 2 (c) Square Enix

Has been Released -somethingto play till Grandia comes out Laughing

It has been more than 18 years since the world-shattering events of the
original game, and the Union has once again appeared, in the guise of a
group known as the Knights of the Seal. It appears that the world has
found peace, but it is a deceptive peace. Behind the scenes, thousands of
powerless people are trampled in the name of the Seal.

Our hero Nowe is a young man, raised by a dragon and taken in by the
Knights of the Seal. He has flown the skies on his dragon mount, his sword
drawn, all in the name of the Order. His unusual upbringing and skills as
a swordsman have earned him something of a reputation among his fellow
knights.

Nowe's destiny changes forever when he meets a certain young woman. Manah
has chosen to protect the world by making the world itself her enemy.
Together, Manah and Nowe join forces to take on the Knights of the Seal
and their legions of warriors in a quest for a true peace.

No PAL version announced, yet. :/
But since both 1 and 2 were released in PAL territory, it's a big chance that this will be too. Smile

Yeah I played a little of the Japanese version too, I've been meaning to continue it but my Japanese skills are a little limited. I've managed to understand the general parts of the story though - anyhow the gameplay is really really well done and I'm already pretty sure it'll become one of the best RPGs of the year for me.

Still can't wait for Grandia 3 though.

Who know? 3 of my RPG got the Frozen bug at the end. I think is the damn suppliers problem because I tried different version/logo that would solve the problem, just bought another DVD. Ok, that's cheap, nothing should be worry too.

Are you saying that 3 different RPG games you have on the PS2 all lock up at/near the end of the game?

If so it sounds like a problem with your console (overheating/bad chip?) or the blank media you are using..

too much of a coincidence for 3 different games to all lock up at roughly the same point

Anyway.. where the fook is Grandia Crying or Very sad

Wether a story is great or not is very individual.
As far as I know after reading previews and reviews, it will be around the same as the previous grandia games, so it's really good in my opinion. Smile

The story didn't get any praise in grandia 2 either, yet I personally found it to be great.
So as I said, it's very individual.
