I don't like the new PS4 controllers.
I don't like the Xbox controllers, either.
My favorite controllers are actually PS3 & PS2, but they're very expensive or not available anymore (except clones or used).
Currently, when I wanna play retro games or such, I use the HORI Fighting Commander, which has an excellent digital pad and the button are ok-ish (too close to each other and too thick for my taste, but good in quality).
I'm thinking about maybe buying the new 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ controller in black, but man those are just as expensive as official Xbox or PS controllers, WTF...
Is there some affordable and good alternative or insider tipp you can share?

8bitdo stuff is highly regarded. So is the nintendo pro controller.
I always liked the xbox 360 controller. I think it has better sticks, bumpers and triggers than xbox one controller but it's super sweaty and not as durable. Xbox one sticks inner edges hurt my thumb after hour or two.
As for ergonomics, the ds4 is great and would be my fav aside from bad battery and lack of proper pc support. Generally current gen controllers are very good imo.
Everything aside from 8bitdo is a variation of either xbox or ps design really.

maybe the xbox one elite controller. the series 2 elite controllers are coming in november, but i think its stupid to pay 180 bucks for a controller...
for retro stuff and fighting games i still mostly use a dual shock 2. ds3 was shit and ds4 isnt that great either

I use the Elite controller, and it’s very good. The dpad is actually good, unlike Xbox 360 controller. The Elite dpad is more accurate.

ordered a xbox one controller with wireless adapter on amazon last week.
first one = A-button did not always respond
second one = same + left analog stick drifted to the right
third one will come tomorrow.
had the same with the xbox 360 controller already, i think i had to get 4 until it worked without problems.
so if you want a high quality gamepad stay away from microshit. seems like they produce their hardware with the same quality like their software.
if you check the elite reviews on amazon, it's the same there. same design underneath, same shit, just for more money.

Never had any issues with microsoft controllers and i've owned all types. Well, the 360 had a slight tilt to the left when it got old though.

Can't get more high quality then this.
You can remove and change everything, like the mushrooms (tall, short, middle).
Slight problems with the rubber after some time. |

I love it  it's like you're hands are getting a massage. I use the long stick for the left mushroom and the short one for the right one, the feeling is completely different, basically a long one will give you more precision.
Also for racing games, or something like Rocket league, I use the pedal on the back (second picture) for gas, soo good.

yes i wonder why me and all of my friends always atleast had to send one back then, before getting one without problems.
this started with the dark xbox 360 controllers.
the white ones never had problems, also all xbox bundled controllers are always fine. like they select the good ones.
maybe you are just lucky then?
it's not like we used them for weeks or month. they come broken already.
all those 1 star reviews on amazon don't lie

I've been using the same Elite controller since 2016. I also have two other Xbox One pads; one came with the Oculus Rift, the other with the Xbox One X console (both received after I already had the Elite). The one that came with the Rift has a squeak when pressing the right trigger. I can't remember if it always did, or only recently. The other one is working fine. But both have considerably less precise input potentiometers in the triggers and sticks. I play racing games, and the difference is very noticeable. The regular XO controllers require some dead zone adjustment in games to allow for straight lines, while the Elite is clean even at 0%, and that's after years of use.

controller 3 just came.
A-button still not 100% working but better then before.
stick is a little bit tilted to the right, but it's alright.
RB button is way looser then LB button.
but overall it's working ok, so i keep it now until the new xbox will be out and send it back to amazon then to buy a new one, which hopefully have a new design underneath and won't be shit anymore.
this still feels worse then any 20€ no name controller wtf
