Maybe that bug will make into the final version too then. Razz

About the cutscenes and the skipping sounds, are you sure that it's just not your media? Skipping sound is quite common when the specific game do not like the media.
And before you say "I always use this media, and it always work", let me tell you that it can still happen. I have seen it so many times on this forum. Smile

Well, its good to know that its working for others.. maybe I just need to burn it much slower... when its playing though I don't actually hear the disc itself skipping, just the cutscenes end abruptly and sometimes the sound echoes itself in the background, its really strange... perhaps a sign of my ps2 laser finally losing its lifespan.

Game works perfect until u get to 4pm -> 5pm then it cuts out when u get to the safehouse and gets a nice "bluescreen" type error Very Happy

The game is acctually really fun to play, controls are good... so defiantly gonna get the final version!

no it wont work to complete this game properly utilising save i'm, afraid that you'll be waiting til end of month for the NTSC or next month for PAL. Also the cutscene thing does happen on both of my ps2's so it obviously a problem wit it being pre retail and not the media since i burned them on taiyo yuden t02's on a top of the line plextor i doubt its got anything to do with the media

If it's a problem with the version then everyone would have cutscene and sound problems dvsone. But most people dont. Smile
Some games are just incredible sensetive when it comes to media, even if you have the best media in the world.

Might be your ps2 also, unless it's quite new. But my bet is media. Cool

Damn why do they give us only auto-aim?? I'm so sick of this. HELLO DEVELOPERS it's 2006 and we have analog-sticks so give us free aiming ffs!! How hard would it be to give the player the option to play without auto-aim and with a crosshair that's visible the whole time?? And no the L1 button isn't enough. Crying or Very sad

my ps2 v7 laser is modded and my other ps2 is like 3 months old ( got it for the kids so they could have their own at xmas) i tried it on both 3 different types of media 2 ps2's same problem exactly same places. If it were a media problem chances are it wouldnt do it in EXACTLY the same place since no disk burns the same. It doesnt happen til later in the game so maybe you didnt go that far in. But judging from my nero scans and the fact that ive never had a taiyo yuden disk skip in either of my ps2's (and we're talkin lots of games here) i think i'll go with my bug theory Smile

Well, bug or no bug, its just not working for some, and working for others... I'm going to think of this release as some sort of extended non-spoilerish demo until the retail hits. Even if I didn't get the cutscene problem, the save corruption at the end of disc one will put me right off anyway. I'll be buying this one, especially to support the devs. If you like the game too, don't let this buggy 2 disc release ruin the experience.

This game can be played normally and completed with hdl 0.7c/toxicos's hdl. You have to rebuild the iso though.

I read about this on consolenews, but the poster didn't include a full guide on how to use it.

You will need Sony CD/DVD gen 1.50. You will need to find this yourself.

You will also need to find IML-2-DVD 1.51 yourself.

You will need ultraiso or any other iso extracting tool. Google it.

You will need WINHIIP (if you don't have it already) to put the image on the ps2 HD correctly. Link: http://forums.psxforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=22748

You will also need a patch to remove the 4 gig max limit. Link: http://ps2nfo.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&file=viewfile&id=248

Install the cd/dvd gen. Use the PPF patch on the installed CDVDGEN.EXE.

Extract IML-2-DVD to anywhere you want it.

Open the second dvd in your iso extracting tool. Extract everything in the iso. Open the second dvd. Extract ONLY GAMEDATA.2. Put it in the folder you extracted cd1 into.

Open CD/DVD gen. Select create new project. Chose DVD-ROM Master Disc. Click ok. Drag everything you extracted (including GAMEDATA.2) into the app.

Select volume. In the disc name section SCES in the first box and 53358 into the other. In the License Area select Europe.

Select Directory. Go to file and chose "Export IML File". Save it wherever you want.

Open IML-2-DVD. Select the "..." box next to "IML path". Point it to the IML you just created. Select the "..." box next to "Save ISO As..." and save it where ever you want. Make sure the box next to "Verify Image after building" is checked. It will now create the fixed image.

Open WINHIIP. Select the ps2 drive and chose add images. Point it to the ISO you just made. Be sure the bootfile is SCES_523.89. Click OK. It will add. After this you boot the game like normal.

To verify that it is working load the 4-5 pm mission (remove your memory card before you do this if you haven't gotten to that mission yet) through the mission select menu. If it runs you did it right. You can now delete your original images from the HD.

Enjoy!
One more thing: Once you do this you can change the text and the speech to french, italian, german, and spanish, which previously wasn't even in language menu. The yes-no boxes that should be displayed when you select ntsc when you boot the game that were missing before are now displayed and when you boot without the memory card it warns you. Countless other minor/major differences probably exist.

There is no save corruption problem - you just have to insert the other DVD (without switching off or resetting the console) when you see the black screen with the blue or red border. Then the game will continue and save successfully. I just did it between 4pm and 5pm and it worked fine so I guess it will always work when you have to swap discs. Also I don't have any cutscene problems at all and the language selection and all other menus always worked fine. Normally I don't play beta versions but in this case I just couldn't resist and so far I don't regret it. I'm really enjoying the game!

Isn't that just a little too big for a DVD5? A normal DVD5 can hold 4.3 GB.

Warren Spector : I never minded piracy. Anyone who minds about piracy is full of shit. Anyone who pirates your game wasn’t going to buy it anyway!
