Very entertaining season, just as good as the previous 2 ones. Show has never been great but has always played really well the nostalgia factor. Looking forward to a 4th (and hopefully final) season.
True but in this case it's also a race against the age-clock. The whole story must end within the characters' childhood and not expand into young adults like Potteriana, but actors are maturing too fast
Having only watched the show now from the beginning, I agree with this. The characters definitely look much older when compared to Season 2 and the 6 month gap doesn't really work. Should have gone for atleast a year.
Didn't like S3.
1 was great, 2 was fine (that one episode sucked) but here....
The characters all behave like idiots and every time tension builds up slightly it's immediately dismantled by another joke or parody of some kind, all the way to the end.
It also severely lacked the mystery element that was previously in present.
I thought these youtube comments also illustrate a big problem well
Spoiler:
Joyce in season 1: “Help! My son is trapped in an alternate dimension!”
Joyce in season 2: “Help! My son is possessed by a dimension hopping alien parasite!”
Joyce in season 3: “MY MAGNETS ARE FALLING OFF MY FRIDGE!”
or
Season 1 - kids trying to find their missing friend
Season 3 - kids sneaking in to a top secret guarded super Russian military base underground just to “explore” for fun

dunno about you guys but i am halfway through and i still love how they manage to mix the whole mystery/horror-trope with the 80s-teenager-comic-relief atmosphere if you know what i mean.
I watched Dark S2 before and that was probably the thing that bugged me most about that show: it is just so fucking depressing
The slapstick comedy was too much this season IMO. Some scenes are straight up parodies. First season was much better with the humor, subtle yet always present.
granted, same could be said about the mystery/scifi elements. but i guess that's somewhat part of the dilemma of a tv show going on for more than one season, always having to "one up" the drama with every iteration

Without that mix the show would be a complete failure, cause the hurrdurr mystery aspect of it is pretty weak and cheesy.
For me personally it was the high point of the season, it was a strong moment of empowerment. Now the only thing to do is for the guy to admit he homo, because I feel he homo.
So, I just happened to watch the first episode of season 3 today and...
Wtf is wrong with the tone? Everyone is a fucking idiot, the personalities don't match any more...
It's like instead of an 80's atmosphere they went and recreated a shitty 80's movie instead.
Does that tone get any better or is that what they stuck with?
I expected the same shitty story because season 2 showed us they have no ideas but this is just garbage so far.
Season 1 was the best so far. And yeah, the 80'ies tone they're going for is lacking somewhat in season 3. However, the second half of the season is where most of the action takes place if I remember correctly.
watching S3 now... i'm really struggling, it's so boring, crappy writing. Quite liked S1-S2.. had to rewatch S3 because i stopped watching it halfway, years ago.
