Is it extremely stupid to buy a graphics card which demands a 400 Watt PSU if you have a 350 Watt PSU? Smile I mean...will it work or will it definitely not work? sorry for this lame question...

Well how many extra hardware do you have connected to the PSU?

1 Harddisk, DVDplayer, DVDburner, floppydrive, 4 USB ports used...so I think kinda all the connections available are used. I have one molar plug free so i should be able to hook up the graphics card...

Hmm the HDD takes up alot power and you only have 1. So I would probably say it would work. Is the USB ports transmitting any power to the various devices?

Just disconnect the dvd-player, you dont need it since you got the burner and same goes for floppy!

It is more about the quality of your 350w PSU.

If you have a very good 300w PSU for example you will often be able to run a good gfx on that even if it says 400w recommended.

The 400w is to make sure that even people with crappy PSU's will be able to run the cards.

HDDs are rated at about 25W, same goes for optical drives. As a precaution, HDDs and video cards should stay away from each other, if you put them on the same line you could have freezes due to the fact that when you go 3D, the GPU causes a drop in the line's volts/amps. If the PSU is a cheap one, or not stable, that drop will cause the HDD to stop spinning. If you put GPU+optical on one line, HDDs on another line, you should be fine with a less powerfull PSU.
