A far more engaging Spidey flick than the rather bland "official" ones (I definitively gave up after not-so-Amazing 2 back in 2014), both lighthearted and thoughtfully designed. Took me a while to get used to the cinematic 15fps-like style and the extra juvenile tone was off the charts at times, but the pacing is always solid, the art with its comic book influences is inspired and the characters are not annoying which helps.
Well, it's a film bought by Netflix, so you know what to expect most likely. That is, that whether it's good or bad, it's likely not going to be great.
They made the robot be played by a dude in a suit made by WETA and that was a great idea. But the rest of the film sometimes looks a bit like a TV movie. Others, it looks good.
Overall, for a low budget directorial debut it does its job nicely. But it's nothing truly special.

Crypto, holy shit, terrible movie. 1/10 Lionsgate, did they produce 1 decent movie so far?
american psycho, saw, john rambo, lord of war, dogma, secretary, drag me to hell, kick ass, buried, john wick 2 + 3, the descent.
those are just the ones i like, there are many more which are good but are not my type of movies.
but of course there is also a lot of shit, like probably with most other studios too.
You do know that when such movies have a high score it means there's a good twist in the end, right?
I remember a couple of friends walked out of Cabin in the Woods back in those days lol
It better be an amazing twist because I'm at the middle mark as well and the movie turned to shit..
