I used to play Wizardry 8 long long time ago. Really loved it but I couldn't finish it as I didn't have much time to play back then in high school. It's such a long game I can't even play it now. Sad

Code:
Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is coming to Windows PC on May 29, 2019!

For nearly 40 years, RPGs across every gaming platform have paid tribute to Wizardry’s original innovations. Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls (originally PS3 exclusive) restores those innovations with a modern and handsome presentation, while retaining the time-honored mechanics and fierce challenge that defined the series.

looking at wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizardry) it seems like the mainline Wizardry games had really terrible translation in Japan.
Until Wizardry Nemesis spinoff became popular in late 90s and people started to develop sequels/spinoffs to it (39 of them, only 3 came to west) to that one in japanese style

Older by far.

Though the series was held by Sir-Tech until Wizardry 8 saw the studios closure and was then picked up by a Japanese publisher although it stuck to the classic style of the first games.

There's also a Japanese SNES compilation of the first three games though other series such as Ultima and Might and Magic were also hugely popular in the 1980's in Japan even inspiring some of the early JRPG titles.

Not really sure when the first non-Sir Tech wizardry was released but they've been on PS2 and probably earlier for years although not very often localized outside of fan translation from what I know but continually improved and refined but often keeping the older dungeon delve and roots of the series before Wizardy 6 to 7 modernized the series after the development hell and problems with Wizardry 4 (Hard as almost no other game before or since, poor sales.) and 5 which had really lengthy development though that also hindered Wizardry 6, 7 and 8 to various degrees making them feel dated and old on launch compared to competing titles.

EDIT: Style of gameplay is also popular in other frnachises like Elminage Gothic and even some of the more modern fan-service heavy handheld dungeon delve games.
