Chernobyl dramatizes "the true story of one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history and tells of the brave men and women who sacrificed to save Europe from unimaginable disaster. The miniseries focuses on the heartbreaking scope of the nuclear plant disaster that occurred in Ukraine in April 1986, revealing how and why it happened and telling the shocking, remarkable stories of the heroes who fought and fell."

I like how there isn't a single Ukrainian starring in it. Might as well be set in a fictional London.
There's not a single Englishman starring in Russian TV series about Sherlock Holmes and yet it's considered the best portrays by the English themselves and Conan Doyle's daughter.

are there meeting notes/recordings of these meetings taking place or are we here just assuming fiction as reality, there is a ton of misinformation about chernobyl as a whole, i sure bilieve stuff was covered up, just dunno to what extend, it was painfully obvious after few hours wtf happened when daylight came
heck even today its used by the fucking greenies pushing their agenda even when science shows nuclear to be the least dirty way of power generation and quite safe with modern systems, while back then it was easy anti communist material, everyone and their dog had a field day with the facts
just dont build em in earthquake prone areas or near coastlines and everything will be just fine, plenty of inhabitable places in the world to put them, plenty more inhabitable places coming soon at this rate trump coal retard
Really enjoyed the the first episode, I don't know too much about the facts of chernobyl so really looking forward to this series. Still how did these guys fuck this up? I know they were trying to lower pressure or temps by inserting/removing control rods whhich caused the explosion but how did they even get into that state? Was it a case of terrible human error, shitty reactor, natural disaster etc.

Anyway, back to the show: It basically reinforces what I already knew about the disaster but in a very stark and direct way. It shows how Soviet-era communism caused fear, repression and shit like this. It shows how far behind Soviet was when it comes to anything but size and military. This was in 1986 and it looks like the 50'ies and it looks poor. Delusional under a totalitarian regime where every citizen was carefully watched for any thought that didn't fit the Kremlin agenda. A true dystopia.
Yeah, the noise on the negative and thus the video from the strong radiation while filming from a helicopter is really interesting in a contextual way.
russian tv news clip : everything is fine, nothing to worry about , as u can see on the footage everything is intact and hanky dory
yeh ofcourse cause u cant see radiation , u jokers
cool, they used the original phone logs the night of the accident
at 13 minutes u can see an in detail newsreport of what actually happened, basicly one dude forgot to flip a switch and then a bunch of dudes coudlnt fix the initial dudes error and broke a ton of safety rules and procedures to still try n fix it and then all hell broke lose due to the design of the reactor
People with kids and babies outside at 2 am that was realistic lol. Also that woman leaving the toilet door opened and light on was fun. Dude in the beginning taking trash out of an elite USSR building that have/had built in trash chutes since ww2, lol.
Still a solid show, despite all those comerade things. Russians never addressed each other as comerade, they been using names and short names as all other nations.

Good observations I was also thinking about the children at night, it was unnecessary since they already establish the "think of the children" (and poor birds..) in the last scene, but yeah they needed to do it twice. But eh, small thing on the whole.
