I was so fucking sure they'd also completely miscast Jasmine's father.. well, guess who went from short, overweight and overall adorable to normal height, slim and unsympathetic-looking ?
The casting directors at Disney are either blind or they didn't watch the motion picture. How can you fail so damn hard ? Aladdin's role is the only one that's not completely horribly miscast.

The Netflix movie was a passion project for circus.
Took him forever and no one wanted it.
It ain't good. It ain't better than the farvabean one.
Farvabean hits the right emo notes as he does with all his family movies. Circus does not.
Just cause it ain't mainstream, maaaaan, doesn't mean it's better.

you only say that, because you have a boner for Scarlets Snake Voice ...
Far cry from the 95% the 2016 live action adaptation of The Jungle Book achieved, and not much better that this year's Dumbo (47%).

They missed the opportunity of spicing things up by adding another genie though, it would have led to exciting hi-octane moments and intense additional levels of drama that the original cartoon couldn't provide!
Being fair. Despite the film being mediocre there are actually things that made more sense from the original:
Spoiler:
*Jasmine(and also Jafar) realized Aladdin and "Ali" are the same person..
(Sorry, but magically changing clothes doesn't magically make you different person).
*Jafar doesn't actually trying to kill Jasmine at all in the movie.. (unless my mind play tricks on me).
He just paralyzed her in the climax.. along with Aladdin..
But I guess in the original he wanted to toy with Aladdin.
*the concerns for marrying Jasmine to forigen prince are more emphasises for political reason and considering it its mid ages its reasonable...
It feels to me they removed "darker" elements that were in the original films..
Spoiler:
Unsuited people still dies in the "cave of wonders" but they way they died feels rushed and no name given...
I was 20 in 1992 and I've never watched Aladdin except having it in the background while visiting one of my sisters and her kids watched it for the umpteenth time.
I knew it, "Aladdin" IS a brand name. Same with "Lion King".
