Ya my 4 ports and hence trade routes are defended with long and medium canons which deter's attack fleets of 5-6 ships fairly easily. Its surprising how quickly the game can turn on you, i.e 100K +1500 to +100 and all funds gone.

Thats because you small needs problems (ie a short term shortage), best is to immediatly click on a town center thingy and see whats missing and compensate asap
Not really, i played it a fair bit to see how much i can supply and if you treat it as a non proper Anno its actually quite nice. Has some good mechanics.
Oh, you are mistaken. I am daily on reddit and other forums involving around Anno and there are quite a few resilliant people who buy stuff only on steam and so they did with anno 1800. there are also some who missed out and now are mad cause they have to wait a year before it comes back to steam since they dont want any other launchers (Bad epic and also uplay) and you can even tell them that uplay is needed no matter what they simply refuse with bs excuses.
So yeah, they exist and they are sometimes dumb as fuck.
But you are right when buying games that steam isnt always the best choice, i for example always buy the corrosponding game on the publishers platform since i dont want to have steam down and not be able to play my uplay game then. Makes no sense to be depentant on 2 services (DRM) when only one is needed.
Cheapest I can find is €55 on allkeyshop. Even with discounts paying for this over €30 I think it's too much. Granted I only played a couple of hours with beta but it didn't give me the impression it's worth it. Imo.
They wont ban you, worst that may happen is that they remove the game from the lib but even that i doubt will happen. Some Money is still better than no Money, which means they rather take your cheap ass as a customer instead of no customer at all.
