the silence (2018)

6.5/10

It was better than A quiet place.

- no stupid and annoying children

- the pacing was nice

- the acting was good

However, there were some stupid things such as:

- How did these creature survive all this time in the caverns?(OK, let's assume they hibernated for thousands of years lol)

- Being deaf is not an advantage in such a situation. If you can't hear the noise you could be making while doing something, you might easily fuck up and die.

- These creature are blind, so they must use some sort of echolocation method to find their way in the world. You can't do that just by hearing something coz you don't have the means to properly locate your prey and to properly navigate when flying around. Meaning..staying quiet wouldn't have saved them.

- The military (or just ordinary people) could have easily killed them all by using a really loud and constant sound to lure them into, say, a giant fan. =) or something.

Back from Hellboy.... it was supposed to be 15% rotten tomatoes crap... and it was fucking AWESOME !!!

I love the hell out of it. Jokes were good, Hellboy was great for not being Ron and gore was through the roof. I do not remember a movie being so brutal in a long time. Lots and lots of blood. It was fantastic fun.
It was very light hearted and mixed a lot of monsters not expected from hellboy and reminded me of Thor Ragnarok but very bloody.
Don't get me wrong. It was a mess of witches, demons and everything they could get in there but it was fun.

Lifepod (1993) 6/10

Low budget 90's sci-fi thriller about people drifting in space in a lifepod when stuff begins to happen. Expected a bad movie, but it was pretty entertaining all the way to the end.

Stop looking at critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes. They're completely fucking useless these days.

62% user score seems about right based on the trailers.

Dragged across concrete (2018)

7.5/10

The first half of the film was so boring...thankfully the second one was much better and the ending was nice.

I wish it was 30-40 minutes shorter (the first part needs to be edited...)

Polar - 5.5/10
I think for me the problem was the tone of the movie. One moment we have this wacky low brow humor, next second we've got this dry humor and suddenly it's all serious business. It just couldn't set itself properly if it wants to be over the top or serious and flow properly with one of them.
There were better movies that gone with this over the top style - like Kick-ass and Shoot'em Up or Red.

The Wandering Earth

7/10

Really outrageous chinese sci-fi movie. Based on a short-story by Cixin Liu who's known for his book The Three-Body Problem.

CGI was cool with interesting scenes. The science seemed thought out even though it is all very ridiculous. In true chinese blockbuster fashion it is pulled down by lots of cheesy and overly emotional moments and weird humor.
The premise is interesting though, and with directing similar to Interstellar it could've been an amazing movie, now it feels more like an american sci-fi blockbuster from late 90s ala Armageddon.

Avengers: Endgame - 6.5/10
It was a little bit of a mess. The beginning felt rushed. The main plot wasn't as engaging and witty as the premise. Some big plot holes too.

There wasn't much of Cpt Marvel. So you can take a breath.
Overall I found it subpar to Infinity War.

Thanks for the tip, nice surprise, back when Matt still did some good movies. 10/10 is too much (the whole story with Claire felt unnecessary), but 8/10 is worth it I think.

i dont understand all the hate and the bad reviews... this was a decent movie

maybe a bit convoluted but knowing shyamalan this was to be expected. apart from that i found it a refreshing take on the superhero genre and did a good job of deconstructing the common conventions.

I agree with everything except the score; 6/10 for me.

I bet the book is 1000x better since it seems they tried too hard to make it ultra-commercial for the chinese audience.

The worst part for me was that
 Spoiler:

. And then a bunch of action that happens just so that the plot can progress Evil or Very Mad For me it's a strong 7-7.5/10, as it was competently done.
