I gave it another try and ... it's just so boring. Now I get it, they tried to go back to the roots of Anno, but I am sorry, that's not going to cut it. There has to be more than that!
After 45 minutes I almost fell asleep in front of my computer and I had to stop, lol.
Also, it doesn't feel like I am in the 1800s. It feels like I am "wherever" between 1400 and 1800.
Finally had some time to play. Much easier than the last beta. Back then I could barely make money, now it's way too easy. But it's still very early and it's obvious that they are tinkering with balance, hence the big difference between the two beta sessions.
Love the new uneven terrain, makes things look much more organic. Speaking of which, I wish they'd give up the grid based building already. These days it just feels archaic and restrictive, especially after Cities Skylines.

Following the successful launch of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on PC on the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games store, we are announcing today that we are partnering with Epic Games on Anno 1800 as well.
Players can now pre-order the Deluxe and Standard editions of Anno 1800 on PC on the Epic Games store. Moreover, all players will be able to try Anno 1800 via the Open Beta, scheduled from April 12 to April 14, by downloading the game on Uplay or via the Epic Games store. Once the game has been released on April 16, 2019, Anno 1800 will only be available digitally on the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games store.
Pre-orders on Steam can be made until the release of the game. Everyone who pre-ordered Anno 1800 on Steam will be able to play the game upon release and will automatically get all future updates and content.
Oh, how they were adamant on a Steam release during beta... Ah well, bye bye. It's long overdue but maybe time to blacklist all of Ubi. Not like I bought anything from them over the years.
Wonder if it's CPU or GPU. Lots of things so probably hard on the CPU but the GPU is likely also seeing some work and I recall 2070 and 2205 being fairly demanding too in some instances even before you get the business going and start building little CEO-villas on some remote island to go along with the rest of the industrial machine you're building up.
Engine should hopefully be able to scale up to six or octa core but there's probably room for additional optimization and other work too.
cannot start multiplayer, it's greyed out for me.
some kind of "nat typ unkown" error.
normaly all kind of games work, even games with nat messages like in this game.
so i opened up all required ports in my router for anno 1800 but it did not work.
tried it with ipv6 and with ipv6 disabled, also upnp is enabled.
That's Ubisoft for you and their stupid Uplay. Had the same problem more than once with their games, while every other game in the past 15 years always worked without any problems or need to mess with ports.
