The Favourite - 7 rabbits and half a cup of tea/10

The most accessible movie Lanthimos has ever made in which the amount of bizarre awkwardness is set to 60% instead of the usual full dose of insanity. Still more than enough to set it apart from normality, there is nothing conventional here Very Happy

Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz are simply excellent as well as the rest of the cast, their daily manipulative interactions are grim and lighthearted at the same time and you never really know what to expect next. The movie didn't quite impress me as much as The Killing of a Sacred Deer or The Lobster did (those were absolutely bonkers, in the best possible way), though it's another unique window on humanity and its quirks all wrapped up in an original marmite-like way.

Glass 6,5/10

Expecting worse than what I got. Mcavoy was fun to watch again and overall I can say I enjoyed the movie. Nothing stellar though.

The Head Hunter

Meh

The first 35+ minutes is pretty much the same scenes repeating again and again. Start and middle of the movie is stretched way too thin and way too long. The best part is the last 30 minutes, dark and torch scenes are amazing.

Shazam! - 4.5/10
I didn't like it. Rest of the group was more fond of it. The Shazam was too different from Billy's character, while Billy was or felt like outcast Shazam was a buffoon.
The movie felt like Superman 3 with Reeves. The costume was offputing so it all felt just cheap. Mark Strong was Mark Strong I can not hate him but his character was nothing special.

On the other point Faithe Herman was great a bright point in this movie.

SPOILERS!
 Spoiler:

I think the movie might most appealing for teenagers. In the cinema were some parents with 4-5 year olds. Sweet nightmires dear children.

@VonMisk Thanks for the review. I‘ll just wait for the dl and watch it on my TV then.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The Highwaymen. Not bad but also not too interesting, its just a movie about the two main characters Costner and Harrelson. There's no one else in it with any depth or anyone who's even interesting. Very forgettable. 6/10

Wolfenstoverlord

The nice grim atmosphere with plenty of gory bits, yer evil nazis and their crazy experiments accompanied by quite a few solid shots and decent pacing make the movie thrive in its own ridiculousness, zero fucks given mode. There are also main characters constantly acting illogically and the editing has an identity crysis, but as a brainzzless serum-injected flick it definitely does its dirty ~6,5/10 job.

The Hole in the Ground (2019)

Meh.

The Descent and The Omen mishmash. Way too artsy and way too long. That said, loved the ambience in this one.

Haven't seen it yet (I started watching it but after 5 minutes I recognized it as basically a remake of the spanish movie Fermat's Room). Have you seen Fermat's Room?

Extinction (2018)

6/10

Not as bad as most here claimed it was. Laughing The girls were annoying, yes, but I'm pretty sure modern girls of the same age would behave exactly like this in such a situation Very Happy

The idea was nice, but unfortunately, it was poorly done.

Smallfoot 7/10

About a Yeti trying to prove that humans exist. Smile

A nice surprise, enjoyed it!
Like the first LEGO movie, it's of course primarily made for children, but has enough good jokes and underlying themes for adults to enjoy as well. And I even liked some songs (well, at least, the rap song of antagonist near the end Smile ).

Visuals aren't Pixar level, but that's ok. It's still better than Cars and Incredibles 2 Razz

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

The Silence

The Giant Piece of Crap more like.

Ridiculous premise - millions of predatory creatures surviving for thousands of years with no prey underground. Right. These creatures react to sound. After Bird Box, it's very easy to make comparisons:

- both involve certain senses causing problems: sound/hearing vs seeing
- both involve people trying to survive and holing up in a house while trying to figure out where to go where they're safe
- both hear of a safe haven
- both feature a cult that ends up infiltrating them only to attack them on mass, using the creatures against them
- after defeating the cult, both end up going north to the safe haven where they end up surviving
- both have TERRIBLE ENDINGS
