I didn't, it didn't really appeal to me (but neither did skyrim)... Guess i have been too infected with all other recent games and don't like the RPG genre anymore.. or so... Neutral

Nah, I know how CDP is, release a working game, then just to make people play it again like a boss, they release an EE with tons of new goodies, bad ass patches and so forth. So I waited till it was all out to start it up again. I made it to the tenticals before the final patches were done, then I just got caught up doing other shit that i never got around to beating it...so I'm doing that now as we speak Smile

And yet again, I'm at another boss fight (Letho) and it's so apparent they can't make boss fights for fucking shit.

<Insert boss fight> roll roll roll swing roll roll roll roll roll swing swing die from attack that actually didnt' hit you but game says it did reload <Letho hits you with aard before cutscene is even over and you're able to control Geralt>

Marcin Iwiński leaves the games his studio makes to Adam Badowski these days. His role is to protect the company from greed, from making sure mistakes like White Wolf don't happen again, and from guarding against "evil forces" such as publishers pushing horse armour.

Something like this happened recently, although he can't say exactly what. But his response was to ask the people pitching it to explain it to him exactly how they would a crowd of gamers, and to tell these gamers why they did it.

"ERR UMM UHHH," they faltered.

"OK done," he told them. "You know the answer. Thank you."

As I understand it he said that he was approached by for example gamestop to give them some exlusive shit like "horse armor", "weapon skins" or "hard mode DLC". And he said that they won't do it because it is a dick move for the rest of the gamers who couldn't or wouldn't buy that exlusive version of the game.
In other words - CDP would like to be fair for all the gamers and don't do such things and release paid DLC like some shitty skins.

ALL HAIL CDP RED Very Happy

Got it now, thanks. The "publishers" confused me a bit, I was thinking about actual, big publishers, not "software retailers", lel.

It might be publishers too. I used gamestop because I know they use this tactics. And in Poland Witcher is published by CDP but in other countries they publish it via Namco and other companies. So they may try to force some changes like said DLC.

BTW. I didn't know that Aussie Witcher automatically declined any sex offer. Poor Aussies.

I was referring to Witcher 2, sorry.

And W3 from wiki - published by WB, distributed by Namco for EU (so far).

Man, as much as I have grown cynical of developer studios and their constant disappointments (not CD Projekt Red mind you) where even studios I once admired just shit all over their franchises (Bioware with Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 (to some degree) and 3 (complete turd)), it's really fucking difficult not to look up to CD Projekt Red as a game developer studio. Yes, they're a company and yes they exist to make money but everything they do when it comes to game development just oozes pride and this (sadly) unusual commitment to respect their customers.

It sounds a little like I'm putting them on a pedestal but honestly, how can I not when you compare them to all the other studios out there making high budget/high profile games? It's not even about the quality of their games (which speak for themselves) but just their mental attitude towards the whole process. Of course some of it is just smart marketing but still.

I agree completely. Razz And those who claim that CDProjekt is doing all this just because "hey they're marching on it" clearly don't have any clue about PC gaming.

If you provide gamers with the 'quality software/noDLCs/noDRM' holy trinity, you will get rewarded, always, you will gain a positive reputation and you'll be respected.

It would be such an easy formula, everybody would be happy, but no! These guys are aliens, even worse, they hurt the industry! Better give legit customers limited activations, online-only single player games, disk locked and platform exclusive contents and then blame piracy instead!

I'll buy another game of theirs when they can figure out a working combat system that doesn't suck dick lol. Witcher 1 was fine, then they mangled the 2nd's with a shitty camera view and got rid of isometric

Those gog news are depressing as shit Sad

The thing is, why buy it there when most games will be cheaper on IN/AR steam, right? But that only goes for us dirty/miserable , why don't normies buy more games there assuming the prices will be in line with "normal" steam?

I assume that is meant to be $780,000 and not $7,800 in profit. What are the gross sales figures though?

They tried to expand the GOG store too fast, while ignoring some glaring issues with it. It's suprising they aren't in the red tbh. Don't forget even CDPR were on the brink of bankruptcy once and only the unexpected success of W2 saved their asses.

Half of the older games I bought from them had some issues on modern systems that needed some additional fixing. There are a few unplayable games in my library too. For example Gangsters - Organized Crime was unplayable for years Only a year ago a third party fix was released that fixed it. The GOG support did not give a flying fuck.

In one side you have games like bronson's cited one, with problems and not a single solution from GOG staff, but on the other side you have games like Fallout: New Vegas which works perfectly fine without any further fix unlike the Steam version. So I see it as we're told, they lack income and technical staff. As for me, I know what I'm doing with buying more releases lately in GOG opposite Steam. I always have a soft spot for the underdog Very Happy Smile
