It seems everyone that was on the NMS bandwagon for this big game update though has already moved on to other games after a few weeks so I do not see those numbers continuing at all.

Really this was very welcome. But the best part is...

"As we touched on in the last Development Update, we are busy brewing up some larger features as part of the longer journey for No Man’s Sky."

If only we got all of this at launch

It was always clear that the game would not deliver at launch, like so many games these days. But i also never expected it would sell so well that they could work on it like this, so i'm glad a ton of people got tricked or actually even liked the original release Wink

I really like the game, extremely addicting, but i stopped playing during NEXT, i'm gonna hold out until those large updates has died out.

If they continue at this pace, this game might kill Star Citizen out of the box when (if) it launch.

They should fix the boring combat. At least let us fight some humanoid creatures. Why are the pirates only in space, they should have bases and stuff on the ground.

Missions and combat is really what they need to take a serious dig at, doing fire works, collecting crap and being able to make more emotes is something they could take a look at once they've fixed main issues Mad and guess what, if missions and combat is engaging and fun, then people will stop complaining about planet biomes and other stuff they can't seem to fix no matter how many times they ""upgrade"" it. It's really quite secondary, but not if the game is shallow, then it's all you have - graphics, looking at stuff.

"the most positive community of any game that has launched".

It's good that he's optimistic and all, but actually if you look at NMN Steam forums there is always a lot of negativity, even to this date. I highly doubt it's one of the more positive ones.

It still looks like an unfinished game band-aided together..

..Well done 25 million NMS woohoo!!.. great to see gamers sending developers that message that they don't need to bother finishing games anymore.. just release any garbage, anytime, in any condition. Rolling Eyes

OK it's amazing that VR will be free, too. In my eyes, the developers are redeemed. Shocked

Anyone who was expecting something bug free and amazing at release from a game of this scope, with a team consisting of 6 people, is always going to be disappointed though. He did pull some dumb shit that didn't do them any favors though, needles to say i was not a fan either pre or post release.. buy i'd say he has redeemed himself by now.

That devs "doesn't need to finish games at release anymore" was not established by this game, it's been a long running since way back. Funny how forgetful people are.. look at the changelogs for most game released in the last 10 years and you'll be amazed of the changes many games (especially indie ones) goes through in 2 years. VERY rarely do i play indie games at release, it's never worth it, just recently i started playing Kingdom Come for example, it's still kind of buggy.

NMS is a pretty great game now i think (spent around 200h on it which is more than any game in the recent 10 years for me, apart from games that i've modded). can't wait for even further updates though so i've been holding off for a while.

VR.. i was almost hoping they'd skip that honestly.. I would rather see development in other areas, this means never ending work for VR that they've now added to the list - bug fixes, additions to it, tweaks, it'll drain resources from elsewhere.. There are other areas that i'd hope they would adress first (e.g more interesting enemy types on planets, more mission types)..
On the other hand, this certainly peaks my interest for VR once again, so i'll probably get a headset, once again, for PC

..we might even argue that we need MORE devs that majorly fucks up to this degree, then having to REALLY put in some very serious work to redeem themselves Laughing

yeah, that's true, and the whole idea is just too good to be abandoned, i think Sony too can see the potential.. an upcoming NMS II will probably sell extremely well.

NMS will probably be one of the better VR experiences, especially in light of all the updates and new content for it. good times
