This demo says reail time ray traced reflections. Reflections can be significantly cheaper than global illumination, because you may not need to calculate several bounces of rays. Here one may only need one bounce to see where the eyes ray is reflected to and you are done.

Of course not, but does it? Is this tech limited to mirrors (even if disturbed and non-flat mirrors) and will it fall apart in other scenes?

18fps vs 50 (1080ti vs 2080) in metro ain’t exactly playable. Dont think anyone that knew even the basics about raytracing said it ‘wouldnt’ work on old series as well. You could do raytracing on cpu as well, doesn’t mean it will be at a playable framerate.

That said, that new quake 2 RTX project ( the one presented at GDC with NVIDIA) looks amazing, cant wait. So Much Win

Lightning is a retarded card, Nvidia FE models have all binned chips, nvidia keeps best chips and rest manufacturers gets the shit chips, shit chip in a amazing design = total fail and huge potential wasted, not to mention the price is just insane for a gaming card.

Any 2080ti can achieve the "stock" speeds what lightning has (bigger clocks out the box is just marketing Laughing), overclocking varies, but this card should have the absolutely best of the best golden chips with this kind of power delivery and stuff, but sadly it doesn´t have, there is lots of variance, and most of them are below average overclockers.

intel need to catch up massively with their igpu, Not to mention an even an old core i5 doesnt bottleneck gpu untill u go up to like a 1080ti . so for gamers there is no point buying any of their fancy new shit unless ur shitting money Mr. Green
