It's only a matter of whether these details were worth getting rid of or not, if that did help the overall performance considering the overall graphics are improved: that's it, and really only UbiSoft devs might have a clue about these optimizations details.
GTAV also lost some details from GTAIV and gained some in the process, it sparked a pointless controversy for a few months.

I have tried to play the open beta but it already crashed 3 times before I even could make it to the White House in the beginning so I don't think I am going to bother with trying for the rest of the open beta unlocks since it just does not seem to run stable for me. The closed beta was fine so not sure what changed other then maybe more server load on Ubisoft's side causing issues for me.
This game will end up something I will get down the road when it gets bundled or has a huge discount just like what I did with the first game thanks to the recent Humble Monthly. I do like the idea of the game and the playstyle of a more realistic 3rd person loot shooter and have been having fun with the first one but I am not very far into it yet so maybe that opinion might change the further I get into the game.

0wen : yesterday I got also a crash before getting to White House, today I played for more than one hour and not a single crash, not sure what was different yesterday. I'm running via DX12.

Game is great. Played on PC and PS4 and will get on PS4, but didn't have any issues on PC in terms of crashing. Performance is another thing.
I didn't bother with The Division 1 after a few months but I guess it fixed all the issues most people had (including the poor Dark Zone matchmaking, which now seems relegated to Conflict PvP). It really shows though that they sat back and took their time to figure out what worked and what didn't.
. . .Anthem is essentially done if they can't push out updates fast enough, because even in this demo there is more to do (shockingly) than there is in Anthem which is kind of crazy (however Massive isn't new to these types of games so maybe not too crazy).

Appears pre-load is available for this, at least on PC. For the bandwidth limited (like myself), you can copy over the beta install to the full game download folder and verify files and be good to go.
