Elazul is one of those teenagers who thinks that any -information- that counters his point of view is bad.
And he has probably not even seen it.

I was going to say.
My favorite thing is seeing on the IMDB "forums" people saying it's too "one sided".
How can something that is trying to shed light on the corporate nature of the war be "one sided"? I found that entertaining.
On another note, I agree with the guy at the end of the film... I too believe that America will fall. My guess is it won't be through a single war or momentous event, but a gradual dwindling of our economy, freedom, world influence, education etc etc. It has already started, and I can't think of anything that *will* be done about it as money is what talks nowadays, not ration or reason.

It was aired here in DK, just after the "State of Union" speech.
I Like the fact that, lets say your company builds f-16, then you place your factories in 10 states(each building a component for the f-16), giving jobs in all those states, therfore you are sure that those 10 states votes your way. Giving you the contracts and money to build even more.
War = money, thats what is all about... oh and some say oil to, but that will change!

I liked this speech so much I had to post some here...
Quote: | But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.
This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence – economic, political, even spiritual – is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
...
Down the long lane of the history yet to be written America knows that this world of ours, ever growing smaller, must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect.

Well im going to watch this tonight as it seem many of you found it good. But i have some hesitation.
Many of the reviews i have read refer to this film as
"This is just a Michael Moore film without Michael Moore -- without the ego and the bombast and the cheap theatrics. It's "Fahrenheit 9/11" that's had a shave and a shower."
And
"The film is shrewd to keep its leftist tendencies subtle at first, so that even conservative-thinking viewers may be drawn into it and perhaps wind up giving the liberal ideas some thought. If you're a hard-core conservative, I suppose that's sneaky, tantamount to propagandism. As always, a film being well-made and intelligently laid-out will be trumped by the viewer's pre-conceived notions, just as, in the case of "Fahrenheit 9/11," a film's occasional shoddiness will be ignored by those who support its ideas."
To me this sounds like another Propoganda film, and is even refered to as a Propoganda film my many, many reviewers. Refering that many left wingers will prase it, and many right wingers will not see its merits. Which does go hand in hand with the comments so far.

Here's my response to the many people who have said that thus far.
While the movie does not portray Bush in the best light, it is FAR from a Bush bashing movie. If someone watches this and dismisses it as liberal propaganda they really have to open up their eyes. This isn't quotes out of context. This isn't opinions. This is happening right now. As the movie says, it's not one presidents fault, and one president will not be able to solve the problem. It's not one parties fault, in fact, Eisenhower's farewell speech is where most of the ideas of the film come from! Eisenhower being a republican who was a general in the military. Yeah, he's really liberal, and what he says... boy! So liberal!
While the movie could have been better made, what documentary couldn't? I think it was good enough to present people with the other side of the story that they so seldom hear. The movie made me go and read up on some history. I think that's another indication that they did a good job with it.
Anyways, see for yourself. The critiques you have quoted and others I have read make no REAL arguments against the film, and that's the scary part. People realize this is true and think it's how things should be. Pathetic.

i think so , i dled something called 'BBC4.Storyville.-.Why.We.Fight' and watched it like a few weeks ago, a good piece of work, simple yet powerful , the person/ppl who put this together also made a documentry called 'the trials of henry kissinger' i believe, cant recall exactly but chk it out, "why we fight" is liike a glimpse of a chess board, narrow though in scope, and 'kissinger' is like viewing one of the pawns.

You dismiss a movie based on the reaction of a single person on an internet forum and proceed to call someone a teenager? Please grow up. Watch the movie for yourself, don't let other people tell you what it is or isn't.
